petit guide du Perec virtuel : études, liens, repères

Visite de l’écrivain depuis les questions d’espace et topologies. Je me souviens de Georges Perec. Georges Perec. Georges Perec (7 March 1936 – 3 March 1982) was a French novelist, filmmaker, documentalist and essayist. He was a member of the Oulipo group. Life[edit] He started writing reviews and essays for La Nouvelle Revue française and Les Lettres nouvelles, prominent literary publications, while studying history and sociology at the Sorbonne.

In 1958/59 Perec served in the army (XVIIIe Régiment de Chasseurs Parachutistes), and married Paulette Petras after being discharged. They spent one year (1960/1961) in Sfax (Tunisia), where Paulette worked as a teacher. In 1961, Perec began working at the Neurophysiological Research Laboratory in the unit's research library funded by the CNRS and attached to the Hôpital Saint-Antoine as an archivist, a low-paid position which he retained until 1978. Perec began working on a series of radio plays with his translator Eugen Helmle and the musician Philippe Drogoz in the late 60s; less than a decade later, he was making films. As observed at the turn of the century by Marks & Spencer (1899), who first named the ``yelling reaction'' (YR), the striking effects of tomato throwing on Sopranoes have been extensively described. Preparation Experiments were carried out on 107 female healthy Sopranoes (Cantatrix sopranica L.) furnished by the Conservatoire national de Musique, and weighing 94-124 kg (mean weight: 101 kg).

Georges Perec

Perec's most famous books include La Disparation (1969, A Void), written without the letter e, and La Vie mode d'emploi (1978, Life: A User's Manual), about the residents of an apartment building. "It was in the final months of his life that the artist Serge Valene conceived the idea of a painting that would reassemble his entire existence: everything his memory had recorded, all the sensations that had swept over him, all his fantasies, his passions, his hates would be recorded on canvas, a compendium of minute parts of which the sum would be his life. " Georges Perec at the Complete Review. W ou le souvenir d'e. Georges Perec and Paris: AA files 45/46 (Mark Rappolt) In 1969 Georges Perec began work on Lieux (Places), which was to consist of descriptions of twelve places in Paris, carried out every year for twelve years, once on the spot and once from memory.

This was abandoned half-finished in 1975, but this double issue of AA files contains four of the partially completed "on the spot" stories, translated and introduced by Andrew Leak: "Scene in Italie", "Glances at Gaîté", "Comings and Goings in rue de l'Assomption", and "Stances on Mabilon". These are unpolished, and in their attention to the mundane and "infra-ordinary" sometimes banal, but they offer a fascinating window on the changing face of Paris and provoking approaches to observation, description, and memory.

The Oulipo is a (largely French) group devoted to "potential literature", broadly the use of rigorous formal constraints in literature.

Oulipo Compendium (Mathews, Brotchie) - book review

In the Oulipo Compendium Harry Mathews, a member of the Oulipo himself, has produced the best guide to the group and its ideas available in English. The Compendium opens with a translation of Raymond Queneau's 100,000,000,000,000 Poems (ten sonnets with interchangeable lines) and an introduction to the Oulipo by Jacques Roubaud. The bulk of it takes the form of an alphabetical encyclopedia/glossary. There are many entries on people, notably on members of the Oulipo such as Le Lionnais, Queneau, Perec, and Calvino. There are descriptions of key Oulipian works, some of them quite extended: there are three pages on Life a User's Manual, for example, and fifty five pages are devoted to issue-by-issue summaries and descriptions of the issues of the Bibliotheque Oulipienne. Entries are often accompanied by extracts or examples.
