Doyon Covelli Indictment. What, me a hacker?! Target of international manhunt speaks! By Dan MacLeod The Brooklyn Paper A target of a global sting on an elusive group of computer hackers this week said he has no idea why feds banged down the door of his former apartment in Bushwick as part of coordinated international manhunt on Tuesday.

What, me a hacker?! Target of international manhunt speaks!

Authorities stormed a loft building on McKibbin Street as part of the siege against the intercontinental hacker group Anonymous — and were apparently looking for Garrett Deming, 25, and his roommates. But to Deming, lead singer of the band Broken Glow and assistant manager at Greene Grape Provisions in Fort Greene, that does not compute. Anonymous hacking suspects released on bail. People protest outside Westminster magistrates court in London in support of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Photograph: Matt Dunham/AP The five people arrested in the UK in connection with a spate of online attacks in support of WikiLeaks were today released on police bail, while in the US the FBI has issued search warrants as part of its investigation into online group Anonymous. The FBI yesterday issued more than 40 search warrants across the US as part of its Anonymous probe, where the distributed denial of services (DDoS) attacks the group carried out on the websites of companies including MasterCard and Visa are punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

And when the FBI comes a-knockin', the whole house starts a rockin'. Ars has seen posts from a private forum in which several targets of the FBI raids offer brief descriptions of the experience, along with the occasional photo of a beaten-in front door. We cannot guarantee the authenticity of these accounts, though we believe them to be genuine.

A note of context: "LOIC" here refers to the Low Orbit Ion Cannon, a software tool used in the Anonymous DDoS attacks that can flood a network connection with data. I used LOIC during that whole Wikileaks fiasco. A second account showed a similar level of, err, enthusiasm on the part of the FBI. 6am, door busted down (NOT KIDDING), "FBI FBI FBI POLICE FBI GET YOUR ARMS UP AND DONT MOVE THEM. They started it!
