Science ASSIST - ASTA

It will be freely available to ALL Australian schools from ALL education jurisdictions and sectors in EVERY state and territory. Science ASSIST is managed by the Australian Science Teachers Association (ASTA) in consultation with Science Education Technicians Australia (SETA). It is funded by the Department of Education. Science ASSIST will provide: expert, up-to-date information on high-quality teaching and learning resources;support for teachers in the implementation of the Australian Curriculum: Science;consistent and authoritative advice on all aspects of school laboratory safety, management and design;support for school laboratory technicians and teachers in the delivery of stimulating and practical science activities.

Advice will be provided by an expert national advisory team with extensive collective experience across all areas of science. Survey E-newsletters. Inspiration Resources

National STEM Centre. Understanding Science. Teaching resources Science is an inspiring process of discovery that helps satisfy the natural curiosity with which we are all born.

Understanding Science

Unfortunately, traditional instruction that misrepresents science as a body of facts to be memorized and the process of science as a rigid 5-step procedure can deaden students' spirit of inquiry. Students should come away from our classrooms with an appreciation of the natural world — fascinated by its intricacies and excited to learn more. They should view and value science as a multi-faceted, flexible process for better understanding that world. Such views encourage life-long learning and foster critical thinking about everyday problems students face in their lives.

Fortunately, fostering such understandings needn't require reorganizing your entire curriculum. How Science Really Works. This flowchart represents the process of scientific inquiry, through which we build reliable knowledge of the natural world.

How Science Really Works

You can use it to trace the development of different scientific ideas and/or the research efforts of individual scientists. Most ideas take a circuitous path through the process, shaped by unique people and events. Move your mouse pointer over the flowchart to reveal an additional level of detail. Click on items in the flowchart to get further information in Understanding Science 101.

Digital (USB) microscopes provide an exiting new dimension to microscopy combining the power of an optical microscope with that of a computer.

USB Microscopes and Digital Microscopes

Our digital microscopes are used by schools, universities, industry, research organisations and even pre-schools. We have the largest range of digital microscopes for sale in Australia and New Zealand. Whether you are using a PC, a Mac, an Android device, or an iPad we have a digital microscope suitable for you. The micoscope-shop.com.au is the online microscope outlet of The Logical Interface. In 2012 we were selected by the Queensland Government to exclusively provide digital microscopes to Queensland schools.

To help you understand how this technology works we have created a special page about digital microscopes. Home. Perkins School for the Blind. Engaging students who are blind or visually impaired Our goal is to show that all students can fully participate in science.

Perkins School for the Blind

To that end, we are sharing some of the resources, materials, and activities that we use with our students who are visually impaired. “Accessible Science: Life Sciences” is the first in a series of on-demand educational webcasts that will live on this site. The webcast outlines teaching strategies and adaptations to make science lessons and activities accessible to students who are visually impaired. "Making Science Accessible" is a book designed for the science teacher in the mainstream science classroom working with a student with visual impairments.
