He started learning his craft in 1982, at the JB Viullaume school of string-instruments making in Mirecourt, under the direction of Maestro René Morizot. After obtaining his diploma, Laurent entered the service of Pierre Taconne, who had been head craftsman at the Vatelot house in Paris for 23 years. Pierre and his son, Patrice, taught him the art of restoring and maintaining string quartet instruments.
In 1991, he created his own workshop in Madrid, and his main activity is making and restoring string quartet instruments. In 1993, he joined the "Groupement des Luthiers et Archetiers d'Art de France” (Association of French Craftsmen in the Art of Violin and Bow Making). In 2001, he was unanimously selected to represent Spain in the "International Society of Violin and Bow makers”. In 2003, he organized the first Franco-Spanish congress with the collaboration of the French Embassy and various Spanish institutions.
