She wanted a bag to put what we Australians call her thongs in. Before you gasp and have to block mental images of my 67 year old mother in tiny knickers, let me explain that thongs in Australia are what the rest of the world calls flip-flops. Here’s my original post. For your pleasure and amusement, and to beg your forgiveness for the aforementioned mental image, here’s how I made it…. This is a quick’n’dirty shoulder bag with a zippered double interior pocket, an exterior pocket and a flap closure. Choosing your fabric First of all, spend about 30 minutes choosing the following fabrics: • exterior (shot cotton) (about half a meter but I didn’t measure so don’t send me irate emails. Your feature pocket will end up looking a bit like this (but hopefully straighter), if that helps with your fabric selection. Spend 30 minutes debating the wisdom of making the exterior from shot cotton.

I'm leading the activity (a Charm Square Swap and associated fun) at the May meeting of the Portland Modern Quilt Guild and have written this post mainly for the PMQG peeps who wanted additional information on cutting charm squares.

To do that, I get to show off my fun little collection of Mug Rug's I've amassed and tell you where they live in my house - some of the ways I use them might surprise you! I made myself this one. Katie Jump Rope is my very favorite fabric line and it makes me happy every time I look at it. It currently lives with my laptop, because I use it as a traveling mousepad for my wireless mouse. That way I can be on the laptop on the couch or on the floor with my boys and still have a smooth place to be able to use my mouse.
