Social Game Developers Revamp Viral Tactics to Comply with Faceb

While we recently attributed some of the across-the-board declines in daily active user numbers for Facebook games to seasonality , it’s becoming clearer that recent policy changes by Facebook may be contributing to these declines as well, forcing developers to completely revamp their viral activities. Here are three viral practices that have been reined in and examples of how developers are attempting to cope with the changes. Pre-Game Gifting Interstitial Screens are Gone The policy: ”You must not prompt users to send invitations, requests, generate notifications, or use other Facebook communication channels immediately after a user allows access or returns to your application.” How developers are coping: This was viral-marketing 101 for nearly every Facebook game: every time you went to the application, you first had to go through a “gifting” screen before you could actually play the game. Only Playfish refrained from this practice in the past. http://www.insidesocialgames.com/2009/12/28/developers-revamp-viral-tactics-to-comply-with-facebook-policies/

Teens Just Don't Blog or Tweet [STATS]

http://mashable.com/2010/02/03/teens-dont-tweet-or-blog/ A new study published today by Pew Internet finds that teens and young adults are blogging less and using social networking sites more, with the prominent exception of Twitter. Pew’s Report surveyed 2,253 American adults and 800 U.S. teens to get a reading of how they use the Internet, which gadgets they own, and which social media tools they use the most. Here’s a no-brainer: Young adults use the web far more than older adults. In its study, Pew found that 93% of teens and young adults go online, compared to only 38% of adults over 65 years of age.

The three letters usually stand for Uniform Resource Locator—the unique address of any file that is accessible via the internet. But in the world of internet start-ups, URL has another meaning: Ubiquity first, Revenue Later.

A special report on social networking: A world of connections |

THE annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, currently in progress, is famous for making connections among the global great and good. But when the delegates go home again, getting even a few of them together in a room becomes difficult. To allow the leaders to keep talking, the forum’s organisers last year launched a pilot version of a secure online service where members can post mini-biographies and other information, and create links with other users to form collaborative working groups. Dubbed the World Electronic Community, or WELCOM, the forum’s exclusive online network has only about 5,000 members. But if any service deserves such a grand title it is surely Facebook, which celebrates its sixth birthday next month and is now the second most popular site on the internet after Google. http://www.economist.com/node/15351002?story_id=15351002

Now we are talking. Lets say you are advertising using Google’s Adwords program .

Google Adwords Dynamic Keyword Insertion PHP Script | Dave Woodi

A few month ago, we first wrote about the trend of fan blogs appearing for Facebook games like FarmVille and Pet Society . Avid gamers have been creating professional-looking sites that both provide a community for supposedly “casual” gamers, and share news on in-game changes and fresh strategies. As a new trend, fan blogs still have an uncertain future; some have grown fairly quickly, while others, including most that we mentioned back in October, haven’t grown at all.
