Blender besitzt einen eingebauten Videoschnitteditor und eine Spiel-Engine . Die sehr aktive Entwicklung hat zu einem großen und sich ständig erweiternden Funktionsumfang geführt, der z. B. die Simulation von Flüssigkeiten oder die Mischung von 3D-Sequenzen ( Compositing ) einschließt.
