A Father Who Creatively Captures His Kids (20 photos) If there was a prize that could be given out to the most creative father, I'd hope that it was awarded to Jason Lee. A wedding photographer by day, he's used to capturing some of the most important moments in a couple's lives. As a longtime fan of Jason's photos on Flickr however, I think the real magic happens when he turns the camera onto his daughters. Sure, his children are adorably cute in their own right, but that's not what makes his photos so interesting.

It's when he puts his own spin on their everyday moments that we not only get to experience our own childhood again, we're able to see a father's pride shine through. I was able to get in touch with Jason to ask him a few questions. Q: How did you get into photography? Q: How do you come up with such creative photos of your daughters? Q: How has being on Flickr helped you with your business? Q: Any inspirational stories you'd like to share? Q: Do you have any advice for aspiring photographers? Q: Any quotes you live by? 10 Ways to Take Stunning Portraits. How do you take Portraits that have the ‘Wow’ factor?

Today and tomorrow I want to talk about taking Portraits that are a little out of the box. You see it’s all very well and good to have a portrait that follows all the rules – but it hit me as I was surfing on Flickr today that often the most striking portraits are those that break all the rules. I want to look at some ways to break out of the mold and take striking portraits by breaking (or at least bending) the rules and adding a little randomness into your portrait photography. I’ll share ten of these tips today and a further ten tomorrow (update: you can see the 2nd part here). 1. Most portraits are taken with the camera at (or around) the eye level of the subject. Get up high and shoot down on your subject or get as close to the ground as you can and shoot up. 2. It is amazing how much the direction of your subject’s eyes can impact an image. A. B. 3. 4. Using techniques like slow synch flash can create an impressive wow factor. 5.

Bokeh Photography. Photographing a dance Performance. Dance performance photography I'm unsure whether this should be put on trip photos directory or on article directory. However I decided to put this on article, since on this article I will discuss how to take pictures of dance performance and focuses on the dancer's effect. I admit the first time I took their picture is just for testing my camera + lenses low light performance. However, since I find the camera + lens can capture the swift dancers, then I decided to take something artistic and end ups at hundreds plus pictures of dancers. You'll see why do I took so many picture after you see the pictures below.

Without flash Dance performance without flash means available light shooting, which requires a fast lens. I use my trusty Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens, with ISO ranging from 800 to 1600. Please note the dancer is jumping, and the face is quite sharp. This picture was taken that at f/2.8, ISO 800, 1/125 seconds yield normal exposure.

A guest post by San Diego Wedding Photographer, Wayne Yuan As full-time photographers shooting 30+ weddings a year, we have to admit, sometimes it’s easy to fall into the same old formulas when it comes to portraits.

Even with new poses, taking portraits can become very mundane if the same compositions and angles are used for every couple–we’ve definitely been through that creative rut where our pictures start looking very familiar. Throughout the years, we’ve challenged ourselves to stay on top of our game with a few useful techniques. Here are some of our best tips to help keep things fresh and unique for each couple. 1. Use a longer lens. A lot of photographers out there say that their 50mm is a “must-have” portrait lens, but what a mid-range lens offers is a very familiar perspective, something that our eyes are used to seeing all the time. 2. Many times we are stuck seeing what is right in front of us. 3. 4. Shooting at mid-day is no easy task when using natural light. 5. 6. 7. 8.
