Dessert tacos

How does a dessert taco sound? Ice cream and fruit with some melted chocolate and whatever other toppings you like, surrounded by a crunchy cinnamon sugar shell. Fun twist on a regular old bowl of ice cream, don’t ya think? And it’s perfect for a “build your own” dessert party too. Recipe: Dessert Taco (Use this as a guide, but add any toppings you like!) When it comes to brownies, most people are aware that there are two schools of thought: cakey and fudgey.

Delectably Free

I am definitely a fudgey girl, though the last brownie recipe I posted here might as well have been called “fudge” because they were so dense and rich. I decided to go a bit more classic today. No mint, no coffee, no nuts, no frosting. Just plain, old fashioned brownies. They are still in the “fudgey” category, though there is a hint (just a hint) of cakeiness. In addition to liking my brownies fudgey, I also tend to like them less than sickeningly sweet. You can, of course, add nuts or chocolate chips (1 cup of chopped, toasted walnuts proved to be very tasty here) – anything you normally like in a brownie. Update: following some reader feedback, I’ve made some specifications below that I think will ensure these babies turn out right.

Yield: about 9-12 brownies. Cafe Munchkin » Teeny Tiny Turon (Banana Spring Rolls) Teeny Tiny Turon (Banana Spring Rolls) Some days ago, we had bananas waiting so desperately to be eaten.

Cafe Munchkin » Teeny Tiny Turon (Banana Spring Rolls)

Instead of taking my usual “save-the-bananas, bake-banana-muffins” route, I decided to make something that will give me a taste of home. Turon! Turon is otherwise known as banana fritters or banana spring rolls. Then again, I only had 3″ square wonton wrappers in the freezer. 3 bananas cut into 1/4″ slices 3 tablespoons sugar 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon oil for deep frying powdered sugar for dusting 1. 2. Or, if you’re not going for the spring roll look anyway and want to get as much filling in there as possible, just fold the wonton wrappers as you would dumplings. 3. 4. How to Make Marshmallow Fondant. This time I decided to make it with those mini fruit flavored marshmallows.

How to Make Marshmallow Fondant

I had to sort them by colour first. I figured they would add a little bit of flavor to the fondant so I wouldn't have to add much flavoring oil. I use gel colours to dye my fondant but regular food colouring will work too. You won't be able to get really dark colours without making your fondant sticky, but for lighter colours you can just even it out with more icing sugar. I also had lemon oil and coconut flavoring on hand.. oh la la the value brand (which still works fine). Step One: Take a couple of handfuls of marshmallows and put them in a microwave safe bowl. I like to make smaller batches because its easier to add the colour to the melted marshmallow than it is to work the colour into the fondant later. Step Two: Stick the marshmallows in the microwave for ten seconds at a time until the are puffed up and easily stir into a goo with a wooden spoon. Step Three: Step Four: Fondant with the icing sugar kneaded in.
