If you are a graphic designer or an interaction designer and have ever been tasked with creating a style guide or UI guidelines document (both are different and I’ve had the pleasure to work on both of them creating templates and the actual documents for brands and products), this list should help you out as a consolidated list of references. This list is going to be constantly updated (and will ultimately be a monster list, it’s quite modest for now) of publicly accessible style guides and UI guideline documents on the web. If you find any links not working or would like to suggest one that is not on the list, feel free to comment and let me know.

Presenting Information Architecture | Web Style Guide 3

http://webstyleguide.com/wsg3/3-information-architecture/4-presenting-information.html Site planning with a team is often easier if you base your major structural planning and decisions on a shared master site diagram that all members of the group can work with. The site diagram should evolve as the plan evolves and act as the core planning document as changes are proposed and made in the diagram. Site diagrams are excellent for planning both the broad scope of the site and the details of where each piece of content, navigation, or interactive functionality will appear. For major planning meetings consider printing at least one large diagram of the site organization, so that everyone can see the big picture as it develops from meeting to meeting.

The 7 Components Of Design | Van SEO Design

Before solving complex design problems you need to understand the basic components of design at your disposal. Web design techniques and principles from Web Pages That Suck -

Some mistakes I'll discuss aren't actually design mistakes in the classic sense—ugly graphics, bad navigation, etc.—but serious big picture problems. These women are laughing at you. Why?
Principles at Work The reason visual hierarchy is so important is because by mastering it, you can have immense control over how a visitor reads your page. In an ideal world, every viewer would read all of the information on the page thoroughly, allowing you infinite time and space to get your message across. However, the reality is you’ll likely only have a few seconds to grab someone’s attention and tell them what the site is about before they turn away and go elsewhere. By establishing a clear hierarchy of graphics and information, readers almost can’t help but unconsciously follow the path that you’ve set out for them. Technically, no two people will read a page the exact same way but you can create strong trends towards the manner you prefer.
