You know those days when you’re in desperate need of sugar and you’ve already downed more gummy vitamins than recommended while seriously considering how many more you can ingest without causing severe harm to your internal organs? They’re just so gooooood. Well… in that case you should make some homemade snickers bars. Because I definitely did that.
And I KNOW you know what I’m talking about. I spent the majority of my pre-pubescent and adolescent years scheming just how I would be able to steal my brothers’ Halloween candy. Then I went through a SERIOUS phase of those Snickers ice cream bars. And that you can eat a million of them. These days, it’s rare that I crave actual candy, often preferring some chewy cookies or super rich cheesecake or a bar of amazing chocolate that costs thrice as much as the recent organic meyer lemons I purchased.
They are the peanut butter to my jelly. The salt to my pepper. The broccoli to my… wait, no. Baileys and Hot Chocolate Tiramisu. Some of the ingredients needed for tiiramisu are probably not just lying around your kitchen, but most supermarkets do carry them, such as the mascarpone cheese. You will most likely find this in your food stores cheese section. It’s an Italian dessert cheese; it’s similar in texture to cream cheese. Also the Baileys is something you will need to pick up at your local liquor store or if your food store sells liquor you can pick it up there.
You will only need a small amount, so the tiny bottle near the register will be plenty. Start by adding 2 tsp of hot chocolate mix to ¼ cup hot water, and stir till dissolved. Then add in the Baileys. This next part is probably the most difficult and time-consuming part of this recipe. Now fold the mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture. Now the fun part begins.
Then sprinkle with hot chocolate powder. Top with mini marshmallows, a dusting of hot chocolate mix, and a wafer straw. Share with a loved one and I promise they will love you forever.
