Clay Feather Ornaments Ballard Knock Off. Feathers are amazing right? I know I have been lusting after them. So I spotted some bisque feathers in the Ballard Designs catalog. They were gorgeous. They were also $49 for a set of 3. So yes, I had to knock them off! Now let’s compare them to the Ballard Designs originals. To make these clay feather ornaments, you will need: (Links below are affiliate links which means a portion of your purchase will go to support this site.) air dry clay (you could also use the type of clay you bake) — any you have on handToothpicksStrawSome clay tools or a butter knifewhite paintwhite ribbon I used air dry clay because I had it on hand.

Roughly draw in your feather “stem”. Then begin on one side of the stem, using the tool pictured above or something similar, and drag the clay to the edge. I kept starting in the center and pulling the clay out until I was happy with the shape and appearance of my feather. I then used a toothpick to put in the fine details on the feather. DIY: Quilled Bird Necklace. You might remember this bird necklace I made a few years ago. I still receive compliments whenever I wear it, so I'd like to share the how-to so you can make one for your own personal use. Let's start at the very beginning... If you're brand new to quilling, just a few inexpensive supplies are needed - a rolling tool, paper strips, and glue. Keep in mind my first tool was a cake tester from my kitchen drawer... in other words, any slim, stiff wire will do. Cut a sheet of copy paper into narrow strips to use for practice. You will need: Quilling paper - gold-edge black, 1/8 inch (standard width) - Whimsiquills in the U.S. and J.J.

And now, the basics: Roll a coil with a slotted tool: Slide strip end into the slot and turn tool with one hand while guiding strip with the other hand. Roll a coil with a needle tool: Dampen fingertips and roll strip around needle with the thumb and index finger of one hand while holding handle with the other hand. 6 inches 5 inches 2.5 inches A little fyi... These feather pens are so cute, and so easy to make! Witch witchy craft inspiration pagan wiccan | Crafts String/Yarn/Ribbon/Lace | Pinterest.

Project: Spring Bird Garland. This time of year in Minnesota we can all use a little hint of spring even if we have to make it ourselves. A couple week’s ago I saw I sewn felt bird garland at a local gift shop. I loved the look of it, but, of course, walked away saying I could make that. After picking up some bright felt, it just took a little time in the craft room (sewing the garland on a machine brings it together really quickly) and I had almost an exact copy. Hanging in front of the window, it brings a touch of spring into the house even though the view beyond is anything but.

I made this garland to hang in one long string, but you could sew across the birds side-to-side for a horizontal garland instead. Supplies: felt in various colors, look for a felt that is a little on the thicker side than your typical craft felt. Tools: scissorsglue stick (optional)sewing machine 1. 2. When I’m cutting a smaller pattern out of felt, I like to stick the pattern to the felt with a little glue stick. 3. 4.
