Physical Science Experiments - School for Champions. A science project consists of performing an experiment, testing a theory or demonstrating a principle, and then following it up with a report and presentation.

Physical Science Experiments - School for Champions

Many students—and even scientists—would like to succeed in doing a science project, but there are often are challenges and obstacles in the way to reaching that goal. Science projects require that you understand scientific methodology. You need to have any ideas of where to start in developing a project. And finally—if entering in a competition—you need the skills to present your project in a way that will improve your chances of winning. The purpose of these lessons is to give you a start at improving your skills in science projects, as well as to give you tips performing experiments.

Instructional Materials in Physics

CLN's theme pages are collections of useful Internet educational resources within a narrow curricular topic and contain links to two types of information. Students and teachers will find curricular resources (information, content...) to help them learn about this topic. In addition, there are links to instructional materials (lesson plans) which will help teachers provide instruction in this theme. Metric System: Lesson 1

To introduce the students to the metric system. 2. To introduce the students to the basic conversions in the metric system. 3. To understand the reasons for using the Metric System (SI units) in science. 1. 1. At the beginning of the class period the students will receive a worksheet that contains a blank metric system ladder and some metric conversions to be competed. Science Classroom

Students have many opportunities to use rulers, triple-beam balances, and other science equipment to learn how to use the metric system of measurements. Lesson #1 - Length Length Presentation (PPT) - I use this presentation to review the basic units of length and how to measure distances. Length Worksheet (pdf) - Student worksheet that goes along with the presentation. Length Lab (pdf) - Students are challenged to find the length of various objects in millimeters, centimeters, and meters. SDE: Science Curriculum Embedded Tasks. Science Curriculum-Embedded TasksConnecticut Academic Performance Test: Generation III The Connecticut State Board of Education approved the Connecticut Science Framework in October of 2004.

SDE: Science Curriculum Embedded Tasks

This framework is designed to move science education forward and ensure that all of our students achieve scientific literacy, regardless of their postsecondary plans. The CAPT Generation III assessment, which was implemented in March 2007, will be directly aligned with this framework. Changes are outlined below. The CAPT Generation III science assessment will no longer include a performance task that immediately precedes the testing window. The Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT) Generation III will include both multiple choice and constructed response questions. Strand I: Energy Transformations Laboratory Investigations Science, Technology and Society Activity Strand II: Chemical Structures and Properties.
