On the Web, Children Face Intensive Tracking
By STEVE STECKLOW A Wall Street Journal investigation into online privacy has found that popular children's websites install more tracking technologies on personal computers than do the top websites aimed at adults. A Wall Street Journal investigation concludes how many tracking technologies are being installed on PC's by children's websites.
If you're a text messaging company serving thousands of clients (including Rick Warren's Saddleback Church), having your short code blocked by a wireless carrier is a death knell. But the four-year-old EZ Texting says in a new lawsuit that T-Mobile began blocking all access to its 313131 short code on September 10—all due to an EZ Texting client that provides information about medical marijuana. At some point this year, EZ Texting says that T-Mobile got wind of legalmarijuanadispensary.com, a website which uses EZ Texting to communicate with cell phone users who want information on legal marijuana dispensaries in California. Deeply alarmed at the prospect of client messages not being passed to one of the big mobile operators, EZ Texting had cut off its relationship with the marijuana website on September 9, despite believing that it was "acceptable under all applicable laws and regulations."

Parsing Twitter Usernames, Hashtags and URLs with JavaScript
Updated 10/05/2011 As part of an AIR project that I have been working on with my good friend Rob , we came across the need to parse a number of URL s within the text of a Twitter post. This may not sound too easy at first, but thanks to the prototype property available on JavaScript objects, our task was a relatively simple one. The prototype object of JavaScript is a pre-built object that simplifies the process of adding custom properties or methods to all instances of an object. For example, there is not a trim() method available on the String class, therefore, through the wizardry of regular expressions and the prototype property, I can add one. You simply need to specify String.prototype before your method definition. e.g
