All particles are three-dimensional because they have the dimension of height, the dimension of width, and the dimension of depth. Air is composed of particles in a low state of density, water is composed of particles in a more dense state, and physical objects are composed of particles in a high state of density. The third dimension exists because from all of the infinite possibilities only it could exist. The Big Bang Theory is currently the generally accepted scientific theory of creation, which requires the universe to be finite since there was a beginning, and would require that time be a dimension.
The fact that the surrounding section of universe which we can see is expanding, is used as evidence of the Big Bang Theory of creation.
