Snickerdoodles. First off, last week I started my food technology program.

Snickerdoodles

Sadly, this means I won't have a lot of time to update my food blog, and to read other people's blogs. I really love having a food blog though so I'm going to try to keep all this up. Unfortunately my posts will be more infrequent and probably shorter. And most likely I'll be posting about baked goods or quick, healthy and easy to make vegetarian meals. Anyway, on to the food! Brownie-Swirled Chocolate Chip Cookies. Last week’s visit to the Nestlé test kitchens definitely put me in the mood to bake cookies.

Brownie-Swirled Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have been looking forward all week to share these with you, I was so pleased with how they came out. My supremely creative friend Jenny is the reigning queen of combining treats to make exciting new ones (her Oreo-Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies are all over the food blogs right now). When I got it in my head that I wanted to combine brownies and cookies I looked to the technique she shared several years ago that ensured big bold swirls without “muddying” the dough.

Why Make Your Own Though Girl Scout cookies boxes say “trans-fat free,” the term is officially defined by the FDA as a food that contains less than 0.5 grams of trans fat per serving, meaning some varieties — including uber-popular Thin Mints, Samoas and Tagalongs — still contain trace amounts of the fat. I had a fabulous birthday weekend. I have an easy and festive Valentine’s Day cookie recipe for you today. Banana Split Cookies. I love taking something that’s already good and making it better. There is something satisfying, for me, about looking at recipes as if they are always in beta, with things that can be tweaked or improved. I’m notorious for rarely making a recipe the same way twice so I always feel like I’m experimenting and growing. It’s one of the reasons that I kept remaking my goat cheese brownies. Sure the first version was delicious, but I couldn’t help but continue tinkering endlessly until I felt like perfection had been achieved. This time I felt inspired by the Banana Split Biscotti I made back in March.

When I was doing searches for banana split-inspired goodies it became clear that everyone has a different idea of what that means. Delicious DQ soft serve nestled between sweet banana slices covered in luscious strawberry, pineapple, chocolate and whipped toppings.
