Goofproof DIY: Microwave Potato Chips. They’re crunchy, salty and bite-sized, in other words, the perfect snack. Sure you could buy them pre-made from the grocery store, but this recipe is so simple that you can have fresh cut potato chips in under 10 minutes–the same time it would take you to find a parking spot at most grocery stores.

Ingredients 3 medium Yukon gold or russet potatoes, scrubbed and dried $2 tablespoons olive oil $1 teaspoon salt $ Preparation Cut potatoes crosswise into even 1/8-inch-thick slices; discard ends. Cut only as many slices as will fit in 1 layer in microwave; reserve remaining potatoes. Place slices in a large bowl and toss with oil and salt.Line bottom of microwave with parchment paper. For an extra tasty spin on things, combine 1/4 cup finely grated Parmesan with 1/4 tsp paprika and sprinkle on before cooking. Enjoy! Uses for lemon. We Tried It: DIY Beauty Mask. I'm all set up with my new sewing desk, so I'm organised and everything is in it's place. Such a great feeling! The dining room table has been reclaimed as a place to eat, and I'm getting on with some new projects. The first official project at the new table was a collaboration - my husband crocheted a new baby blanket and I finally (after him nagging me for weeks!)

Sewed on the satin binding. The second official project at the new sewing desk was this fabric storage basket. So pretty! Now that I have my new desk which also has shelves, I need a few more little baskets to pop odds and ends in, so I will definitely make a few more of these. I also had a huge destash and clean out of my sewing cupboard and dropped it off at the local thrift shop on Monday, so some lucky people are going to hit the crafty jackpot! Now I need to find a few more storage solutions for a few other items - mainly my self cover buttons, my ribbons, my patterns and my button collection. 10 Minute Marker Caddy. I was using permanent markers to work on a project over the weekend (more on that later).

Over the course of the afternoon I got so fed up with hunting for markers in various drawers and old coffee cups (you know the ones), that I halted the project for ten minutes to create a marker caddy. I know, sounds nerdy. Marker Caddy. But it’s actually pretty handy. To make it, I just took an empty shoe box and some toilet paper tubes cut to the same height as the box, then stuck them into the box together standing up. Well gosh, don’t I feel handy. Felt flower. I cleaned the heck out of my craft room last night, thank goodness. It looks so much better now, but I did manage to distract myself with a quick project. Then I got back to cleaning! Phew. As I was putting stuff away, I found a pretty sheet of navy felt that I wanted to use to make a felt flower. So I took a break from tidying, grabbed my glue gun, some scissors and a coaster, and set out to craft. I started my quick flower project with a small, round, cardboard coaster and many, many, many flower petals cut out of the felt.

To make the flower, I put hot glue onto the edge of the coaster, then placed a felt petal on top of the glue. I did this until I got around the entire edge of the coaster. With the edge covered in petals, I started filling in the middle with petals. I put a glob of glue in the middle of the flower, then placed an awesome, old button in the middle.

To complete our Dia de los Muertos inspired Halloween costume (see the sugar skull face paint tutorial here), we've adapted the traditional veiled flower garland headband associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead. We wanted to create something still in keeping with the floral/lace theme, but a little more... subtle, perhaps? A hair piece that wouldn't have to remain confined to the dressing up box. Dream {a Little} BIGGER - Love! - Doggie DIY Roundup. I've been very vocal about my love for kitties.

There are four living in my home, Liddy, Marla, Gracie and Max and I have been caring for a feral fella that has started stopping by my home. I've named him Oleg and I'm trying to find him a good home. He is adorable! I don't guess that I've been so talkative about my love of pooches. I guess that is because I only have one!
