Early life Career Bay got his start in the film industry interning with George Lucas when he was fifteen, filing the storyboards for Raiders of the Lost Ark, which he thought was going to be terrible. His opinion changed after seeing it in the theater and he was so impressed by the experience that he decided to become a film director.[14] He graduated from Wesleyan University in 1986, majoring in both English and Film.[15][16] He was a member of the Psi Upsilon fraternity and a favorite student of film historian Jeanine Basinger.[17] For his graduate work, he attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena where he also studied film.[18] Ridley Scott. He was the younger brother of film director Ridley Scott. In November 2010, Tony (and Ridley) Scott received the BAFTA Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Filmed Entertainment.[3] Tony Scott died on 19 August 2012, committing suicide by jumping off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, California.[4] Early life[edit] Scott was born in North Shields, Northumberland, the youngest of three sons of Colonel Francis Percy Scott, who served in the Royal Engineers, and Elizabeth.[1][5] He followed in his elder brother's footsteps, studying at Grangefield School, West Hartlepool College of Art and Sunderland Art School, for a fine arts degree.
