Online course review: Handmade Horizons for female crafters who want to get their business to the next level. Why does Handmade Horizons beat the competition? Polly Dugdale and Claire Hughes are two marketing experts with a great passion for getting more handmade product businesses online. Handmade Horizons is a specialist e-course run by two friends who really want to create a supportive community to get creative makers (especially women and mothers) into action, and become more confident in and knowledgeable about growing their business online. It combines the flexibility of a home study package with the accountability of a lively community group on Facebook and monthly live training calls with worksheets full of questions for you to get to the right answer for your business.

Those combinations are really powerful to get the skills you need, and will help your decision making on what to work on and how to implement it for your business. What is Handmade Horizons? Handmade Horizons is now a one-year programme. The entire Handmade Horizons Marketing Academy includes: Who is this not for? Declaration: Craft Club (with UKHKA) / Programmes / Learn. A new craft learning resource package for schools and community groups to start their own creative club. We have developed this initiative in response to the amount of interest from teachers who need only minimal support in order to set up clubs in their schools during extended hours, at lunch or after school.

However, schools are not the only benefactors of this exciting scheme which has the potential to increase participation in craft learning in a range of other educational and cultural venues (see ‘Who?’ For details). Knit 1, Pass It On Craft Club launched its first scheme in 2009, called Knit 1, Pass It On. A simple concept with a magnificent ripple effect: knitters are asked to pass on their yarn skills to at least one other person, who can then do the same. And on it goes… Get involved! Craft Club Partners We are working closely with the UK Handknitting Association (UKHKA) and National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) to promote a national ‘learn to knit’ scheme.
