Chaffin Cade Photography Blog: wedding and couples. A boomtown from 1876 - 1900, this spot saw the first commercially successful oil strike in California. The area that once housed a community had a 13-room mansion (still there), a school house, bakery, social hall, boarding houses, bunkhouses, blacksmith shop and machine shop. By the 1930's, many of the town's residents had left, and by the 60's it was a ghost town. Today, it is a very cool, very unique spot. With tons of history, incredibly photogenic backdrops, and plenty of TV and movie ties (shows like The X Files, The A Team, Murder She Wrote and Highway to Heaven have all shot here), it's quickly become one of our favorite Southern California locations. Kamila and Zac fit right in at this quirky ghost town. Rachael {hope} photography - journal.
