Population Education Population Education, a program of Population Connection, is the only national program with a strong emphasis on curriculum and professional development for K-12 educators that focuses on human population issues. Since 1975, the program has developed age-appropriate curricula to complement students’ science and social science instruction about human population trends and their impacts on natural resources, environmental quality and human well-being. We provide hands-on training to 10,000-12,000 teachers and student teachers annually in North America.

Tens of thousands of teachers are introducing important population concepts to their students using these outstanding resources and millions of students are benefitting from them. As in years past, APSI will be supporting K-12 classroom visits by local artists who specialize in an East Asian tradition. All four artists have years of experience practicing their art and presenting and teaching it in the schools and the community.

These visits are available free of charge to a limited number of classrooms in central North Carolina. You are invited to apply for one of these visits as a school team. This is slightly different from previous years, and is intended to ensure that all teachers at a given school receiving a visit are planning to constructively incorporate the visit into their teaching - to expand units about East Asia and/or make cross-curricular connections. Apply by December 31, 2013 for full consideration. For additional information and available artists available to visit classes in Spring 2014, please click here.
