One of the perks that comes with writing a blog is that occasionally I am approached to write a review about a product that a company feels would work in the tiny/small house world. Recently, I received a big package in the mail with a NewAir AC-14000H Air Conditioner in it.
This Slabtown Customs creation is based on the popular French Cube with some modifications, the biggest being the size. This unit is a 12′ cube, 12×12 footprint and 12′ tall with a very roomy second level for sleeping quarters and storage/closet space, with stair access to upper level The attached pictures were taken before total completion of the unit so there are some things yet to be done such as a little trim, bathroom door, as well as some kitchen items I mention below.
Perhaps there is no Tiny House subject (or trailer subject, in general) that causes more arguments and confusion than that of weight. Between the cryptic way that RV weights are reported by the manufacturers, the lack of clear standards by the DOT and the often deliberate misinformation spread by dealers; trailer weights are confusing at best.
