While Facebook may be the social media platform to beat, there’s an even more powerful social networking force that promises to be in all American homes one day. A growing number of startups are applying the principles of social networking to home energy management, and bringing social media to the smart grid. In the process, they are revolutionizing people’s understanding of their energy use, building successful companies and helping to lessen the impact of each individual on the environment. About urbanibalism
We should never abandon the city in favour of a virgin territory. — Manifesto of Urban Cannibalism, 2012 Urbanibalism is the experience of the city from the perspective of ingestion and as a form of life that grows autonomously from any planned ‘city ecology’. Against superficial aesthetics such as food design and bioart, urbanibalism explores the greater metabolism of the city and the historical conflicts of the living matter at the basis of any culinary art. Urbanibalism is a new sensibility toward metropolitan natureculture , expanding upon the edibility of the city — the city then as a spontaneous convivium .Le J.E.U Jardin d’échange universel, forme souveraine, auto-gérée et comptable d’échange

People use it in all sorts of ways though: sharing moods, broadcasting about their organization (old-style broadcasting), conversing or sharing links and thoughts. Once you join, you seek out some people to follow. Twitter, unlike Facebook or LinkedIn is a directed network. You can follow someone without having them follow you in return.
