Hemp Returns to U.S. Soil After 56 Years -- and Magic Soap King Dr. Bronner's Is Ready to Buy. The first known harvest of hemp—the non psychoactive variety of marijuana—in more than half a century in the U.S. took place September 23 in Colorado, where in the spring the passage of the state’s Amendment 64 legalized the regulated cultivation, sale and adult use of marijuana. While the federal government has said it will not interfere with marijuana in states where it is now legal, it has yet to clarify where it stands on hemp cultivation. Hemp, though non-intoxicant, is considered illegal to cultivate under U.S. drug law. Colorado's Amendment 64 both regulates marijuana in a way similar to alcohol, and also directs the general assembly to regulate the cultivation, processing, and sale of industrial hemp. However, the state of Colorado won't officially grant hemp licenses until 2014.

The evening prior to the first hemp harvest, legalization advocates gathered to dine at Loflin’s farm. Dr. Dr. David Bronner, the president of Dr. "We're very excited that Ryan [Loflin] has done this. Untitled. Apple's humble beginnings: First computers revealed in Steve Jobs' 1976 photo. This is a rush transcript. Copy may not be in its final form. AMY GOODMAN: The Justice Department has begun reviewing a controversial unit inside the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration that uses secret domestic surveillance tactics, including intelligence gathered by the National Security Agency, to target Americans for drug offenses. According to a series of articles published by the Reuters news agency, agents are instructed to recreate the investigative trail in order to conceal the origins of the evidence—not only from defense lawyers but also sometimes from prosecutors and judges. DEA training documents instruct agents to even make up alternative versions of how such investigations truly begin, a process known as "parallel construction. " On Monday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was asked about the Reuters investigation.

PRESS SECRETARY JAY CARNEY: It’s my understanding, our understanding, that the Department of Justice is looking at some of the issues raised in the story. Video: Steny Hoyer rips John Boehner on the House Floor over 40th vote to repeal Obamacare. House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (MD) took to task shaming John Boehner today before House Republicans left for vacation, while leaving piles of work behind them, and he brought up the J word: Jobs. Hoyer said, “Today their new found populism is nowhere to be seen, as they vote to repeal tax credits and subsidies designed to make health care more affordable for those same people: working families and small businesses who haven’t been able to get insurance and are left at risk without the security of it.

Suddenly, the party that never met a tax break it didn’t like is pursuing a tax increase of more than $1 trillion on small businesses and the middle class. As a result, they are making health care more expensive, and millions of Americans will no longer be able to access affordable health care.” Hoyer added, “Mr. Speaker, less than two weeks ago Republicans were on this Floor for the 38th and 39th time to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

(NaturalNews) An Oregon psychiatrist who deliberately sabotaged mountain biking trails near his home in Ashland has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and is now prohibited from using National Forest trails for at least two years, according to new reports. In an ironic role reversal, 57-year-old Jackson Tyler Dempsey pleaded guilty to committing the types of bizarre acts one would expect from his former mental patients, which included running nylon ropes across biking trails for the purpose of harming mountain bikers, and leaving nails and other forest debris on bike paths.

Last July, Dempsey was reportedly observed lingering around the bike trails in the Ashland watershed without a bicycle, which prompted some riders to contact the Forest Service. Dempsey was later caught by an arresting officer who confirmed that the psychiatrist was in possession of the very same nylon cord material that had been found strategically placed along the trail on numerous instances. (Howard Garrett / Orca Network) (An infant orca was captured in 1970, named Lolita, and has lived ever since in a tiny pool at the Miami Seaquarium. The following is about her life and a growing movement supported by Earthjustice to have Lolita reintroduced to her native waters and possibly rejoined with her family pod in Washington state waters.) The whale trappers were exhausted. For months the southern resident orcas of Puget Sound had been outsmarting them, dodging their traps and distracting their ships away from the younger whales. But the trappers meant business, and they returned with faster boats and loud explosives.

The trappers took home seven infant orcas, those still young enough to be trained and sold as entertaining distractions to marine parks. Radiation from Japan's nuclear disaster could be to blame for the hundreds of malnourished seals washed up in California. By Daily Mail Reporter Published: 00:15 GMT, 8 April 2013 | Updated: 13:04 GMT, 8 April 2013 Radiation from Japan's nuclear disaster could be the reason why more than a thousand sick sea lion pups have washed up on the beaches of Southern California in the past few months, experts believe. Earlier this week, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration declared an 'unusual mortality event' after the starving pups washed ashore in record numbers since the start of the year. The NOAA has assembled a team of biologists, veterinarians and public health officials to try and determine why roughly 1,100 of the frail animals have become stranded and had to enter marine mammal rehabilitation centers up the west coast.

Turkish Woman Kills And Decapitates Rapist - Delivers His Head To Town Square. In September 2012 Nevin Yildirim, a 26-year-old Turkish mother of two was blackmailed, threatened and raped repeatedly by Nurettin Gider. Gider started the attacks shortly after Yildirim’s husband left town for a seasonal job in January of 2012.

Yildirim says that Gider raped her, impregnated her and then, snuck into her home while she was sleeping and photographed her. The pictures revealed a pregnant body and Gider threatened to publish the pictures if she didn’t obey him. “I chased him,” she said. She brought the head to the town square and in front of men sitting at a coffee House, she said, “Don’t talk behind my back, don’t play with my honor. She was arrested and is in jail. This is a tragic example of what happens when women are not protected under the law. This CNN video was broadcast before Yildirim was imprisoned. Kimberley A. Psychedelic Science 2013. Meth Addiction Cure: UCLA Tests Ibudilast On Human Addicts.

LOS ANGELES -- The Food and Drug Administration has fast-tracked human tests of what may be the first cure for methamphetamine addiction. The drug also may be the first non-opiate drug treatment for heroin and opiate addiction. In a recent trial, UCLA researchers administered the drug Ibudilast, or MN-166, to 11 non-treatment-seeking meth addicts. The trial, the first of three phases of Ibudilast human testing required for FDA approval, was meant to test the safety of the drug taken in combination with meth. Researchers said the treatment appears to have passed the safety test and eased the addiction. "Very preliminary results would indicate that Ibudilast may dampen craving and improve cognitive functioning," said Dr. Aimee Swanson, co-investigator on the trial and research director at the UCLA Center for Behavioral and Addiction Medicine. Researchers have been trying to develop medication to treat meth addiction for more than 20 years.

The need for another option is dire, Swanson said. Pentagon: Cuts Could Hamper Ability To Invade Countries For No Reason. WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—The spending cuts mandated by the sequester may hamper the United States’s ability to invade countries for absolutely no reason, a Pentagon spokesman warned today. The Pentagon made this gloomy assessment amid widespread fears that the nation’s ability to wage totally optional wars based on bogus pretexts may be in peril. “Historically, the United States has stood ready and able to throw billions of dollars at a military campaign with no clear rationale or well-defined objective,” said spokesman Harland Dorrinson. “Our capacity to wage war willy-nilly is now in jeopardy.”

In the past, Mr. Sen. The cuts are already being felt in a tangible way at the Pentagon, which today cancelled an order for a nine-thousand-dollar pen.
