Bush Library uses Project SAILS (Standardized Assessment of Information Literacy Skills) from Kent State University as their primary standardized assessment tool for undergraduate IL assessment. We used the cohort version of Project SAILS in spring 2009, fall 2009 and spring 2010. In fall 2010, we switched to the individual scores version.
Although the cohort-based results showed how our students did as a group and how they compared to other institutions, it did not provide data that we could share with students about their own competency. We switched to using the individual test scores version in order to provide students feedback about their own performance. The individual results also provides data to support our evidence-based learning and teaching cycle, which consists of: 1. 2.
