YuMe files for $65M IPO as video ad market continues to soar. Video ad network YuMe is going public. The startup filed for a $65 million initial public offering today. YuMe provides digital video advertising technology that pairs online videos with relevant audiences. It connects advertisers and video-content creators so videos appearing on mobile devices, computers, or connected televisions can include advertising revenue in their monetization plans.

The software also collects data from every campaign and analyzes it so brands and publishers can target the right audiences and optimize their ad budgets. “We help our advertising customers overcome the complexities of delivering digital video advertising campaigns in a highly fragmented environment where dispersed audiences use a growing variety of Internet-connected devices to access thousands of online and mobile websites and applications,” the company said on the form. So far, even the Olympics can’t budge our outdated TV models. Once again, NBC is irritating the heck out of millions of Americans by messing around with the Olympics. Once again, the decision to show the opening ceremony in prime time via a time delay has resulted in people accusing NBC of “not getting it,” and of thinking “it’s 1992.”

Once again, the decision to edit the games has some sports fans irked about cuts NBC made in the opening ceremony. And once again, U.S. consumers don’t get it. Sure, people are frustrated because they can’t easily stream the Olympics online without a cable subscription, and there will always be sports fans who don’t want the edited version of The Games with the life stories on athletes and dramatic cuts. How dare @NBCOlympics cut the 7/7 tribute from the #Olympics opening ceremony. NBC paid $1.18 billion for the right to broadcast the Olympics and it will be a cold day in hell before it dilutes the amount it can charge advertisers or the value it has to cable providers. Events. WOBI : World of Business Ideas. OnLive Streams Microsoft Windows Onto Android Tablets Too | Wired Enterprise. First, Steve Perlman streamed Windows onto the iPad.

And now, the legendary Silicon Valley inventor is streaming Microsoft’s desktop operating system onto Android devices as well. On Thursday, OnLive — Perlman’s latest entrepreneurial venture — unveiled an Android incarnation of its eponymous OnLive Desktop — a mobile app that lets users access a virtual Windows desktop housed on servers in the cloud. In other words, you can access Microsoft Office and other staple Windows applications from your tablet — even though they can’t actually be loaded on your tablet. The new Android version of the app is available for download from Google’s Android Market.

San Francisco-based OnLive began life as an outfit that streamed games onto PCs and other devices, and it’s now using the same cloud infrastructure to stream Windows desktops as well. The service debuted on Apple’s iPad in mid-January. Flash can run locally on Android tablets. Video Ad Net Calls Out Competitors. The old maxim in journalism is “show, don’t tell.” Video ad platform TubeMogul is taking that to heart with a new Tumblr that promises to expose instances where pre-roll video ads are served outside of streams, such as inside display units. The FakePreroll Tumblr so far has just two posts. In one, TubeMogul highlights a McDonald’s ad from competitor YuMe that was served in a display unit.

It also slaps itself on the wrist for an instance where it showed a video ads outside of a video stream. TubeMogul hastens to add that it provided makegoods for the error. It is soliciting examples of “fake pre-roll” from others. The effort is sure not to make TubeMogul many friends among its competitors — one dismissed it as a “lowbrow publicity stunt” — but it says it will highlight a serious issue facing Web video. “Many video advertising vendors are using fake pre-rolls to fulfill campaigns,” TubeMogul said on its blog. Go See Napster: Mark Greenberg on The Future of Epix. Epix CEO Mark Greenberg does not want to be the next Napster. He’s got big plans for making his movie channel a vital competitor to the HBOs, Showtimes and Starzes of the world.

This month Epix is showing the Marvel superhero movies leading up to The Avengers: Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. At a luncheon with the press, Greenberg showed off the Xbox interface for Epix and the Epix iPad app. We sat down with Greenberg to geek out over cable TV menus and get the real scoop on their upcoming original movie plans. CraveOnline: How did you get the Marvel movies from the mainstay pay channels like HBO and Showtime? Mark Greenberg: Well, Paramount owns our channel. I remember when Paramount switched from HBO to Showtime.

The ‘80s. So now they’ve gotten into business for themselves? Well, listen, part of it was a combination of reasons but the most important one is that we all saw an emerging audience on the internet. Video/Rich Media - Online videos help build confidence in purchases. 52% of consumers who watch product videos say those videos make them more confident about purchases, according to Invodo.

In a new study, the e-commerce video provider suggests that the main reason consumers stop watching a particular video is if it offers little information that helps with decision making; on the other hand, 66% of consumers who watch information-heavy videos about a product watch them two or more times before buying, Invodo says. Invodo based the findings on a November 2011 survey of 1,039 shoppers who watched at least one product video on retail or brand manufacturer web sites in previous three months.

The survey found that, while most respondents prefer videos that have been professionally produced, 30% of respondents say they are likely to buy products featured on videos made by users of those items. Still, 47% of respondents say that professionally produced videos seem more reliable. Geriatrics | Geriatrics Videos | Geriatrics Treatment | Geriatrics information. Shufflr - where videos find you. Player_v2.swf (application/x-shockwave-flash Object) Internet TV on tablets, PCs soon. Dubai Etisalat will soon offer internet TV on tablets and computers, the telecom company announced Thursday. Rashid Majid Al Abbar, vice-president of Home Products Marketing for etisalat, told Gulf News that the company's ‘eLife' package would be on offer by October. "We are looking at opening up our eLife TV to other multiple screens as we have a lot of content on hand," he said. Al Abbar said that etisalat was trying to negotiate content restrictions regarding tablets with networks.

Once these get resolved, eLife would run on Apple and Android platforms, either on a data package outside the home or WiFi. Currently eLife is only offered on fixed home broadband through fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service. Etisalat launched its eLife services in 2010, and Al Abbar said etisalat has invested Dh400 million to improve the IPTV platform. The company's focus this year is to convert homes on the copper network to the fibre optic network. Etisalat offers 370 channels in 24 languages on eLife TV. Report Shows Younger Viewers Increasingly Watch TV On Mobile Devices. It this media savvy technological world, it seems the younger you are the more adventurous you are with your TV watching. According to a new report more and more of the younger generation are watching TV on portable tablets and smartphones. Mobile TV all the rage The report was commissioned by online TV platform Epix, who are owned byLionsgate, MGM and Paramount. Research firm Ipsos OTX Media CT carried out the survey in April, and compiled from a national sample of 500 respondents aged 25-64 who watch streaming video online. Results showed that younger viewers are big users of mobile devices.

The content sources are still dominated by the TV networks, with catch-up websites being used by the big majority. 51% of users watch movies every month on pay websites and streaming services. When it comes to the best streaming hardware, respondents are heading into the mobile arena. The report throws up no real surprises. QuickPlay Show High Mobile TV Adoption Amongst Viewers. A survey from QuickPlay Media (in a regular ‘Market Tools segment’) has suggested that a majority of people are now interested in and using mobile TV and ‘multiscreen services’ when consuming video and TV content.

The main findings of the survey was that 57% of people are ‘interested’ in the idea of a ’multiscreen video service’, a figure that has risen from the 48% recorded at the same point last year. While tablets are naturally seen as the most popular ‘mobile viewing device’ for longer sittings or when at home, smartphones are still the main device used for mobile viewing (presumably more often in a quick and portable manner). The statistics showed that 35% of respondents had previously tried mobile TV and/or video services, while 27% are regular users of them.

It is stated that 72% of that group have been using such services for under a year, while just over 80% reported watching more frequent content through a mobile device than they were at the same time in 2011. Report Summaries. Intel Talking to Networks About Internet TV Service. Intel has held preliminary talks with entertainment companies recently about creating a service for accessing television shows over the Internet.

The chip maker envisions the service as a bundle of television channels akin to the packages provided by cable and satellite television providers, according to a person with knowledge of the discussions, who did not want to be identified talking about unannounced company plans. Instead of using the service via a set-top box, consumers would tune in with devices that run on Intel chips. The Intel executive leading the discussions is Erik Huggers, a former executive with the BBC who joined Intel last year.

Kathy Gill, a spokeswoman for Intel, declined to comment. The Wall Street Journal first reported news of the Intel discussions with media companies earlier Monday. It is unclear whether Intel will have any better luck than its peers in the technology industry have had persuading media companies to go along with its plans. The Leading Online Video Platform | Video Hosting. Publications Three-Quarters of Online Video Buyers Planning TV and Web Video Buys in Tandem 04/23. Nearly two-thirds of marketers say they consider online video as a complement to TV rather than a replacement for TV, while only 10% look at online video as a replacement, according to Adap.tv’s just-released state of the video industry report for the first quarter of 2012.

Those are reassuring data points for the advertising business in general because they suggest that neither medium is cannibalizing ad dollars from the other, and that the two - online video and TV - can work together. What’s more, nearly half of buyers say they plan TV and online video buys jointly, and another 25% say they’ll plan in tandem within the next twelve months. “That means that, within this buyer cohort, nearly three quarters (73 percent) of all online video buyers will be planning TV and interactive video together by 2013,” the report said. About half of buyers say unified TV and online video metrics are “very important” to them. T Newslog - Multimedia. Do you think Netflix is worried about the fact that Hulu Plus now has over 1.5 million subscribers? Well, think again. According to the letter its managers wrote to its shareholders today following the release of its its Q4 earnings, the film & TV streaming and DVD rental service is much more concerned about TV Everywhere and similar services than about over-the-top (OTT) pure players such as Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime. Even its conviction that Amazon will “brand their video subscription offering as a standalone service at a price less than [Netflix's]“, echoing earlier reports, doesn’t seem a major source of concern for the company.

Call it bravado if you want, but Netflix boasts a much larger catalogue than Amazon and Hulu Plus. This also reflects on viewing times: while Netflix’s subscribers streamed 2 billion hours of content in the last quarter, the company believes that Amazon and Hulu Plus’s ”respective total viewing hours are each less than 10% of [Netflix's].” Intel Eyes Web TV: 3 Reasons It’s the Worst Idea Ever! | Breakout.
