See AJ Fosik at JonathanLeVineGallery.com JonathanLeVineGallery.com Artist Bio AJ Fosik was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. In 2003, he received a BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design in New York.
Alex Lukas interviews and visits AJ's Philly studio before his big show There's Aliens in Our Midst which opens Saturday June 13th at White Walls in San Francisco. AJ and I have known each other for a long time - going on eight years or so - and I have a hard time writing introductions for old friends. I never know if I should write something glowing, tell an amusing anecdote or spew some artspeak and pretend I don't know the guy. Anyhow, I don't think I need to say much because AJ's work really speaks for itself. His fierce work ethic, which combined with his finely honed sense of craft, yields beautiful results; you know it when you see it.
I’m enthralled by the work of AJ Fosik a sculpture artist from South East Michigan. His beautiful 3D sculptures are assembled out of wooden cut-outs that remind me of the dragons and creatures that punctuate Chinese mythology; and also the various masks that they wear! And no wonder – he credits folk art as a big influence in his work. The detail to attention on each of his pieces are amazing.
“Dancing Information” is a media art that produce dynamic human shaped collages from its visitors’ and their friends’ photos on the Web. It works as a mirror so that its visitors rethink about themselves and get opportunities to know something new from their friends’ information based on common context. Akiko Hino leads this project as a chief creator. Y.Hino (engineer) and N.Otsuki (designer) kindly support this project as co-creators. This project is supported by IPA Exploratory IT Human Resources Project (The MITOH Program). *IPA: Information-technology Promotion Agency,Japan
Banksy is a pseudonymous England-based graffiti artist , political activist, film director, and painter. His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine irreverent dark humour with graffiti done in a distinctive stencilling technique. Such artistic works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world. [ 1 ]
Banksy is a prolific graffiti artist from Bristol, UK, whose artwork has appeared throughout Bristol, London and other locations around the world. Some people become cops because they want to make the world a better place. Some people become vandals because they want to make the world a better looking place. If you want someone to be ignored, then build a life-size bronze statue of them and stick it in the middle of town. Art is not like other culture because its success is not made by its audience. The public fill concert halls and cinemas every day, we read novels by the millions, and buy records by the billions.
BANKSY LOCATIONS MAP The best available guides to Banksy's London locations are Martin Bull's 'Banksy Locations and Tours' books volume 1 and Volume 2 but if you've only got limited time and want to be sure that the graffiti will be there when you get there try these locations in London marked on the Art Of The State Banksy Locations Map .

Banksy art is very popular and is often satirical in nature.
Artist Biography: AJ Fosik's eclectic handmade and intricately designed wood animal sculptures and paintings, combined with cryptic symbols, intrigue and provoke. Fosik creates an experience that at first glance evokes a questioning of familiar concepts and then pushes the viewer to look and think deeper. Inspired by subversive cultural influences which shift complacency, he creates pieces that suspend comfort while at the same time offer recognizable symbols and images.
I find humour to be an important aspect of my work, especially when working with an image that is already very well known. The resulting manipulated image has an almost automatic sense of humour to it. When I work on an image, the result is almost like a circus freak or a clown’s make-up: a distorted version of reality where the reality is still visible.
