ABN AMRO Group N.V. is een Nederlandse bankgroep, opgericht tijdens de kredietcrisis door samenvoeging van de Nederlandse takken van het voormalige Fortis en ABN AMRO. In 2011 had de bank 6,8 miljoen klanten en 24.225 medewerkers. Voorzitter van de Raad van Bestuur is Gerrit Zalm . De Staat der Nederlanden is via de Stichting administratiekantoor beheer financiële instellingen (NLFI) vrijwel volledig eigenaar van het bedrijf. De Nederlandse staat zal volgens de huidige plannen niet eerder dan in 2014 [1] overgaan tot verkoop door middel van een beursgang. In 1824 richtte Koning Willem I bij Koninklijk Besluit de Nederlandsche Handelmaatschappij (NHM) op.

19 april 2011 - De Nederlandse kennistop was in Harvard bijeen om in gesprek met 'Dutch-Americans' te leren van het Amerikaanse model. Harvard-promovendus Jonathan Mijs was erbij. In deel 1 van zijn verslag vertelt hij over de aantrekkingskracht van de VS, zijn eigen ervaring als ‘visiting student’ en de lessen die hij daaruit heeft getrokken voor zichzelf en de Nederlandse instellingen. This Saturday concluded a well-organized, informative and above-all engaging two-day conference initiated by the New York consulate and attended by a diverse group of executives, scholars, politicians and government officials. I offer here some afterthoughts on the topic that brought us all together: brain drain. Let us recognize, first, that brain drain is a matter of balance, of gain and loss.

Na haar studie Biologie aan de Rijksuniversiteit Leiden promoveerde mevrouw Hooymans aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam aan de faculteit Wiskunde en Natuurwetenschappen. Zij was daarna onder andere werkzaam als directeur onderzoek van Plant Research International, als algemeen directeur van het Rijkskwaliteitsinstituut voor Land- en Tuinbouwproducten (RIKILT-DLO), als algemeen directeur van Praktijkonderzoek Plant en Omgeving B.V., en als lid van de Directie Plant Sciences van Wageningen Universiteit en Researchcentrum.

Jan Veldhuis (1938) was President of the Executive Board of Utrecht University from 1986 to the end of 2003. After studying in the United States through the Fulbright Programme, he started his career at the European Cooperation department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague (1968-1970). He then moved on to various positions at Leiden University (1970-1974).
