So the other morning before I left for the gallery I filmed it for you and hopefully answered all the questions I’ve gotten about this easy little tutorial.
Enjoy… The first and last photos were taken at around 5:30pm in the afternoon so you can see how the curls fall a little and become big waves, though my hair doesn’t get any smaller. . * CLICK HERE for outfit photos and details. Have fun styling! How To Style Maiden Braids. Last month I did a makeover story with Kelsie and had many requests for a maiden braid tutorial. Yesterday she came in and we photographed these simple step by steps. Kelsie has extremely long and thick hair, but anyone with shoulder length or longer can do these braids (see my photo below for an example). Steps 1-2: Braid two strands on each side of a center part. Steps 3-5: Wrap braids around the crown of your head and pin in place with one pin each.
Step 6: Arrange braids so that they cover the front of your head like a headband. Pin into place more securely until you feel comfortable. Steps 7-8: Pull the rest of the hair into a ponytail and pin it into a cute messy bun. Step 9: Add final pins and spray. THE MODERN BRIDE - thebeautydepartment.com. Although “perfect” is a relative term, this method for curling hair is pretty much perfect by my standards, mostly because it isn’t fussy. While I’m a sucker for both ringlets and Californian waves, I like my own curls somewhere in between: relaxed but bouncy. Mermaid-like. Supplies: 1″ curling iron, brush, and hair sprayTime: 45 minutes (for thick hair) All of the magic happens with Revlon’s “Helen of Troy” ceramic 1″ curling iron.
For those who have long, thick hair like me, you might find that larger curling barrels produce the most pathetic excuse for “waves” that fall out within the hour, regardless of the amount of hair spray. I’ve found that the 1″ barrel creates tight waves that look good for at least 5-6 hours (though they do relax over time). Although I’m sure any iron will do, I love Revlon’s ceramic one – it keeps your hair soft, and it heats up in 30 seconds! For hairspray, I’m a fan of Tigi’s Hard Head, which has a strong hold without the severe crunchiness. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Perfect Summer Hairstyle: The Waterfall Braid. Something about summer always awakens the inner hippie in me: I never want to shave my legs and I always want to wear my hair in braids.
For quite a while now, I’ve been wanting to try a waterfall braid in particular. It’s not much trickier than a French braid, nor does it require a lot of time to make. They’re quite romantic-looking, yet not too Heidi-of-the-Mountains. This waterfall braid took me about five minutes to do after I mastered the art (since I didn’t braid it around my head completely). For instructions on how to braid one, Lilith Moon’s waterfall braid Youtube video is incredibly helpful.
Her instructions are clear, detailed, and easy to follow; I won’t even bother going through the steps here because her video is much better than any tutorial I could write up. I secured my braid with a bobby pin, but for a more frou-frou look, you can place a flower or something on top of it. Triple updo tutorial. Then with a sewing machine or by hand stitch across the two layers of lace and the elastic. After you have sewn one side do the same to the other side.
