15 Easy Catapults to Make With Kids. Making a catapult with kids starts out as a craft and ends with a fun activity!

15 Easy Catapults to Make With Kids

Add a target or a competitive goal and now you have a game. It might possibly be the perfect toy! 15 DIY Catapults All these catapults to make at home use everyday objects – hopefully you won’t have to buy a thing! Upcycle the items in your kitchen junk drawer for hours of target practice. These are in order as seen in the photo above with a few bonus catapults at the end. Plastic Spoon Catapult – Housing a Forrest starts us off with the simplest version of them all! Candy Corn Catapults! (Four ways to build a catapult out of items from around the house!) This week, several excellent bloggers have teamed up to provide a play series of ideas for what to do with ALL of the candy that will be entering our homes this month!

Candy Corn Catapults! (Four ways to build a catapult out of items from around the house!)

Here is our contribution to the series – candy corn catapults! We’re going to show you four different catapult versions that can all be built with items from around this house. However, it would also be fun to just provide the materials and let your kids experiment with building the best catapult. Building and testing catapults to see which shoot candy corn the farthest would make a fun fall playdate!

Some friends of ours helped us come up with good catapult designs, and all of the boys (8 boys total!) Create an Engineering Mystery Bag Challenge for Kids. This is a sponsored post.

Create an Engineering Mystery Bag Challenge for Kids

If you are a fan of the hit TV reality competition, Masterchef, then you would be familiar with the concept of the mystery box challenge – it’s actually my favourite part of the show! For those who don’t know, the contestants are each presented with a box of identical, mystery ingredients from which they are required to create a mouthwatering dish. They don’t have to use every ingredient in the box but apart from a few, very basic pantry staples, what they discover in the box is pretty much it. It’s fun to see the dishes created by the talented and very creative contestants. Taking this concept and applying it to children, learning and the great ideas children have, I recently put together two MYSTERY BAG engineering challenges for a group of great kids (aged between 6 and 12 years of age) to get creative with.

CHALLENGE ONE: The Pom Pom Launcher Mystery bag #1 challenged the children to make a Pom Pom Launcher; CHALLENGE TWO: The Free Standing Marble Run. 100 Engineering Projects For Kids - The Homeschool Scientist. 42 STEM iPad Apps for Kids (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Ready for the best STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) iPad apps for kids?

Just remember that most ipad apps, with a few exceptions, won’t instruct your child. They will however, give him or her practice, repetition, and reinforcement. Biodomes Engineering Design Project: Lessons 2-6 - Activity - www.TeachEngineering.org. Summary In this multi-day activity, students explore environments, ecosystems, energy flow and organism interactions by creating a scale model biodome, following the steps of the engineering design process.

Biodomes Engineering Design Project: Lessons 2-6 - Activity - www.TeachEngineering.org

The Procedure section provides activity instructions for Biodomes unit, lessons 2-6, as students work through Parts 1-6 to develop their model biodome. Subjects include energy flow and food chains, basic needs of plants and animals, and the importance of decomposers. Students consider why a solid understanding of one's environment and the interdependence of an ecosystem can inform the choices we make and the way we engineer our own communities. This activity can be conducted as either a very structured or open-ended design. Engineering Connection Every day, engineers adapt existing designs for housing, structures and cities so they work optimally in specific environments and ecosystems.
