After teaching another serger class today, I realize it's time to post a hat tutorial. And the timing couldn't be better since we are headed out to visit my sister in law this weekend who is expecting a baby girl in October. What could be better than a trio of baby hats! Re-purposing: Sweater to Sweater Dress Re-purposing: Sweater to Sweater Dress There’s always some sort of new dress to create, it seems. Mmmm…….something about a sweet new dress though.Good thing my little lady loves to wear them. And perfectly adorned with some little satin flowers. I found this sweater at the thrift store in great condition and decided to re-purpose the lifeless thing. First, I cut off the sleeves and some of the sides into an A line shape.
Sewing a Cheap Baby/Boys Neck Tie - Neck Tie Patterns | Vanilla Joy I needed a photo for the cover of my blog book – I print our family blog a year at a time through Blurb and as I was putting it together over the last two weeks (part of the reason I’ve been MIA…it takes forever!) I realized I didn’t have a good family picture with Linus. So I had decided to have just a picture of the boys on the cover for 2011. And I’ve been dying to make them coordinating ties, so…now was the time! Sewing a Cheap Baby/Boys Neck Tie - Neck Tie Patterns | Vanilla Joy

I have the exciting opportunity to head to the beach for a couple of days, to relax and soak up a little of that beautiful Florida sunshine. I wanted to do one more halter top to take to wear with my jeans and this is what I came up with. It can be changed in so many ways let's just say this is a 3 in one shirt. It seems like I am packing all of my DIY tops and dresses to wear. Tutorial Things You Need. No Sew, Tee-Shirt Halter #3, DIY No Sew, Tee-Shirt Halter #3, DIY
Made my own Mod Cloth dress I saw this dress on Mod Cloth months ago, way before it was warm enough to wear, and thought, "Wow, that's a unique design. What a weird combination, actually. But it's cute! I could make that!" Made my own Mod Cloth dress

Welcome to the gOOd life: DIY: a thrift find dress to a peplum dress I got this dress at a thrift store for $4. I liked the color and knew it had potential. I tend to go through "obsessions" with clothes, like two years ago, it was ruffles. Starting last year, it's been peplum. I already own 9 items of peplum clothing but it's just not enough!
Fit to a T baby romper tutorial part 2: Making the Pattern and Cutting « The Seamery This post is intense, since you are making lots of decisions at this stage. Really it’s much simpler than it looks (isn’t that what they all say?), but I will ask you to please make a test piece to make sure you are perfectly happy with your fit and technique before you cut up your vintage concert T’s! 1) Trace a foundation garment to make a block pattern.
Earlier this year, I had my eye on a scarf from We Are Owls . It was cashmere, hand-painted, and gorgeous. But also more than I was willing to shell out for a scarf. But it was still swoon-worthy. source: we are owls DIY: How to Make a We Are Owls Inspired Poem Script Scarf
It's Skirt Week over at the Crafterhours blog, and I thought I would use this as an opportunity to get a head start on some back to school outfits for my daughter since she will be heading off to kindergarten in August. First up is this adorable drop-waist Double Layer Circle skirt made from some knit fabrics in my stash. Doesn't it twirl beautifully? I added a ruched tie embellishment on each side for a little something extra. I didn't do a full tutorial for this project, but I can show you a few of the details if you would like to make a similar skirt. Rather than make my own circle skirt pattern, I just used the bottom of the Racer Tunic Dress Pattern I bought from Lil Blue boo. Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom: Double Layer Circle Skirt
