Infarrantly Creative — *Free♥ Pretty ♥Things ♥For ♥You* Flea Market Wednesday - The Good, The Bad & The Rather Ugly~ I'm not gonna lie... Flea Market Wednesday wasn't fun.... It seems that every dealer and their sister were snatching up the goods. I can never get to the Wednesday Flea early enough (to find the reallygood stuff) because I have need to drive the kids to school.

Those darn kids! Don't think I haven't wondered if they could just walk to school on Wednesdays.... (I'm kidding!) There's nothing worse than parking your car and seeing treasure after treasure being loaded up in somebody elses truck! I saw it on Wednesday... (we will get to the "bad behavior" in a minute) It was about 9:00am and I had just arrived at the flea market...

I added the brown transferware bowl to my collection.... This was GOOD! Back to the flea market... Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a new seller arrive. It was overwhelming to watch... I turned to another shopper and jokingly said, "What's she giving away??? "... I was told "She just arrived and she's got fresh merchandise"... Fresh?? Have you ever seen behavior like this???

Yesterday in this post, I proclaimed that the apothecary jar trend was over.

OK, maybe it is not over... but the trend is over in our house. I was tired of changing out my vase filler every season. And, quite honestly, I just wanted a change. I did not want to get rid of the vases. I liked the shape and scale of them. If you read this blog... then you know I have a penchant for painting objects white. I wanted to paint on the inside of the vases and I followed the exact same steps I used to make my milkglass trees. Psst. Why do I have four cans? Supplies needed: Jars of different sizes Plastic bags Masking tape White spray paint Cleaning solution (I use isopropyl alcohol) Gloves Directions: 1. 2. 3.

I love the vases in white. You can really see the silhouette of each vase now and they do not get 'lost' anymore on the hutch. Do you have any apothecary jars? I admit that using different vase filler is an easy way to decorate for the seasons. Finding Fabulous. Diy. You know how they say one person's pain is another person's gain? Or something to that effect, at least. Well, someone tore down the little abandoned house next door to us and I'm sure someone, somewhere must have lost some money on that. They've been working on this off and on for a few weeks. And I've been eyeing these piles of perfectly usable wood destined for the dump. Can you tell we're thirsty for water over here? My gain - free wood. I didn't take any step by step pics of the construction because, honestly, I was just trying to not succumb to heat stroke or dehydration while working on these in our non-air conditioned garage in 100+ degree heat.

I just used some random lamps that I scrounged from around the house here. I left all the imperfections as they were, I only sanded them a little bit to take most of the splinters off. Along with the light came some extra storage space and when have you ever complained that you had too much storage? So here's what I came up with. Diy. Alright, alright, alright. (Picture me saying that in my best Matthew McConaughey voice.) Are you ready to see this bathroom done or what? Yea, me too. Too bad it's STILL not finished. Last time we left off the guys had just put up the dry wall. Here's where the large pantry-style cabinet will go... And here it is after about 7 coats of high gloss white paint....or was it 8?

I left the doors on to paint it and a highly technical tool to keep it propped open... There are endless uses for toilet paper. I totally forgot to take a before picture of the cabinet. My chunky supervisor The men folk, on the other hand, chow down on pizza that comes in a box too big to fit through more doorways... But back to the bathroom. I'll spare you the long and boring step by step tile laying process and get straight to the good stuff. Next it was time for paint. (sneak peek of the floor!) It looked like a nice neutral grey. Plus it matched perfectly with the mosaic tiles. Powdery, baby blue walls. First I cursed. Paper, plate, and plane. Aunt Peaches. Creative jewish mom. Filth Wizardry.

Vases. WHAT CAN I TURN THIS INTO? A Recycling and Crafting Idea Center. Photo credits: theknittingphysicist.com, forum.threadbanger.com, cache.wists.com, dollarstorecrafts.com, etsy.com. Simple. Fancy. Frames. | - StumbleUpon. Simple? Fancy? Simple? Fancy? Sounds like somebody needs to pick a lane here. But wait. You start with some pretty simple stuff…like basic, blank, boring wooden frames. Choose some scrapbook paper that you really like. Find scissors and dig out the Mod Podge. You can trace around the frame if that floats your boat… or you can just cut out enough to fit the frame, generally.

Paint on the Mod Podge. Even out the gluey stuff. Poke a hole in the middle and cut out the excess paper. Cut just a bit closer to the frame than silly Lyndi…keep cutting you nut! Now, take a file or emery board and sand the edges. Keep going. Make sure to get all the edges… inside and out. Top coat it with another dose of “Modge Podge”… ha ha. Let them dry. Now—add the sparkly little doo-dads that make it fancy. Whatever. Now then–is this the cutest thing you’ve ever seen? Simple? Bingo. Or–if you just want someone to do it all for you–check out Somebody’s Stuff. Happy Birthday my sweet Lyndi! Creativity Prompt #8 – Making Your Own Hardbound Journal.

A few weeks ago I mentioned the importance of treasuring ideas in an “inspiration well”. Having a place to go back to when you are feeling uninspired and blocked is important both for your creative process and your well being – it keeps you inspired, optimistic and energized. Just taking notice of your environment and of all the wonders of the world around you and the beauty of your everyday life can help you feel more inspired and have a more relaxed life. However, writing those details down can help you stay focused and inspired also on gloomy days, when it is very difficult to be aware of all the goodness around you.

Another good reason for writing all the great ideas your mind (and your heart) yields is to perpetuate them on paper (or on your computer). When we have a fabulous idea we are consumed with it and cannot imagine we would ever forget it, but we do. This week’s prompt is making your own hardbound journal to inspire and to treasure ideas in it. Supply - Optional tools - The Idea Room: Monogrammed Hand Sanitizer/Soap Bottles. Elegant ‘tin can’ tea light holder | Whatimade.com. 1) Who said baked beans and a naked flame don’t mix… 2) …hey, don’t get too close (just in case). For this week’s craft I’ve rested my son’s felt-tip pens and pursued one of my other passions, creating beautiful things out of junk – in this case an elegant tea light holder made from an empty tin of Heinz Baked Beans (the beans on toast were pretty good as well). So why not give it a go, it’s a great way to ‘upcycle’?

It took about an hour and a half to make, and proved to be a much simpler project than I was expecting. It turns out that tin cans are made of very thin tin, all you need are a pair of ‘tin snips’, it’s as easy as cutting through paper with scissors. How to make your own DIY tin can tea light holder You’ll find instructions on how to make one below, I’ve also included a stencil for download, this should make marking up the can much quicker, but it’s not essential. I’ve added a modern twist to these vintage barrettes. Start with a basic metal barrette. Cut a 24 inch length of 4mm ribbon. Open the barrette. Place the middle of the ribbon under the opening end of the barrette. Hold in place. Pass one side of the ribbon through the barrette. Continue braiding the ribbon to the end of the barrette. This is what the typical 80s ribbon barrette looks like. Twist the ribbons together and fold in half. How many are you gonna make? The Real Deal: Seriously… I had barrettes from forever ago that I found and used scrap ribbon.

Dahlia flower tutorial. Sorry...but I just can't help it...I guess I'm just drawn to flowers. I had something totally different in mind for this blog post, but then I came across these adorable Dahlia flowers and I just had to try to make them and then of course show you guys how to. I found them on YouTube and the demonstrator is a Stampin' Up gal named Dawn. Click here to see the video I watched. I've been thinking about if I should make videos instead of posting a bunch of photos. Please let me know what you think. Anyways, back to the flowers... you'll need: double sided patterned papercircle punchadhesiveflower center (button, rhinestone, brad)optional:inkbone folderPunch out 8 circles. Fold them in half and then half again, so that the circles are divided in four quarters.

Fold two edges in so that you will get a point. Do the same with all 8 circles. Turn the circle over and fold again so that the two edges meet in the middle. Repeat with the other circles. Cut out another circle. Just say no to boring cardigans — insatiable need - StumbleUpon. The fabric fairy has recently blessed me with an unusual windfall: more ribbon, zippers, trim and other notions than I know what to do with. Included in the stash was bolts and bolts of vintage lace trim…everything from sweet little eyelet lace, to elastic lace for lingerie, to hand crocheted trim probably originally intended for someone’s wedding trousseau (the picture above is about one third of the collection). I had an idea to use some of the lace in a t-shirt refashion that would turn one of my many plain, long sleeve t-shirts into something more interesting: a pretty cardigan, perfect for fall days when you need another layer but want something a little special…anything but yet another hoodie.

My vision was simple: lace ruffle, followed by a smaller, chiffon-type print ruffle, and finished off with a velvet ribbon. I wanted an ultra feminine look that was all about varied textures, so I knew I didn’t want all three trims to be the same, flat black. Cookie Cutter Soaps : Candle & Soap Making Techniques.
