On the subject of Lifters vs Riders vs Yankers I first heard these terms while I was doing a demonstration for the Happily Hooked on Crocheting Club, a chapter of CGOA in Connecticut. Dee Stanziano is co-founder of the chapter and wearer of many hats; among them are CGOA answer lady and CYCA certified crochet teacher. Lifter, Rider and Yanker are non-technical, non-judgmental and yet wonderfully descriptive terms for how crocheters manage their stitches. Lifters’ stitches are taller, creating an elongated row gauge. Although lifting, riding and yanking can be correlated to how loosely or tightly you tension the feeder yarn, that’s not always the case.

La photo ci-dessus montre la longueur 30 cm, qui peut aussi être utilisée pour des manches ou des bonnets d’enfants. Les pointes métalliques sont incurvées et mesurent environ 8,5 cm de long. Les aiguilles de 23 cm sont les plus courtes du marché, à réserver aux chaussettes et aux mitaines. À essayer pour voir si l’une ou l’autre des longueurs vous convient ! I was perusing through craft magazines at the bookstore when I came across the Summer 2012 issue of Stitch Craft Create. In it I found an article about basic yarn dyeing with food colouring products. In particular, I was intrigued by the idea of solar dyeing, which is a method that uses the heat from the sun to set the dye colour as an alternative to the more conventional method of the microwave or oven. With near-record high temperatures this summer, I figured I had a perfect opportunity to try this out. Springtime Wreath. This is my design for a little Springtime Crocheted Wreath. The pattern/tutorial that I'm writing out here is for the circular green part of the wreath, and the general putting together of the whole thing :: you can use whatever flowers you like to adorn it with (the flowers I've used here are my Little Picot Flowers, pattern found here).
I've hooked my wreath on a 4mm hook, using Rowan handknit DK cotton. The wreath measures approx 15 cm/6 inches across.
