Brain Waves During Meditation. Brain Activity During Meditation The brain is an electrochemical organ (machine) using electromagnetic energy to function. Electrical activity emanating from the brain is displayed in the form of brainwaves. They range from the high amplitude, low frequency delta to the low amplitude, high frequency beta.

During meditation brain waves alter. The four categories of these brainwaves: Beta Waves or beta rhythm, is the term used to designate the frequency range of human brain activity between 12 and 30 Hz (12 to 30 transitions or cycles per second). Alpha Waves are electromagnetic oscillations in the frequency range of 8Ð12 Hz arising from synchronous and coherent (in phase / constructive) electrical activity of thalamic pacemaker cells in humans. Theta Waves is an oscillatory pattern in EEG signals recorded either from inside the brain or from electrodes glued to the scalp. Delta Waves are high amplitude brain waves with a frequency of oscillation between 0Ð4 hertz. Theta State ShareThis. No 'God Spot' In Brain, Spirituality Linked To Right Parietal Lobe. Scientists have speculated that the human brain features a “God spot,” one distinct area of the brain responsible for spirituality. Now, University of Missouri researchers have completed research that indicates spirituality is a complex phenomenon, and multiple areas of the brain are responsible for the many aspects of spiritual experiences. “We have found a neuropsychological basis for spirituality, but it’s not isolated to one specific area of the brain,” said Brick Johnstone, professor of health psychology in the School of Health Professions. “Spirituality is a much more dynamic concept that uses many parts of the brain. Certain parts of the brain play more predominant roles, but they all work together to facilitate individuals’ spiritual experiences.”

In the most recent study, Johnstone studied 20 people with traumatic brain injuries affecting the right parietal lobe, the area of the brain situated a few inches above the right ear. Q. Are the visual or auditory hallucinations in blind or deaf people analogous to sensations in a phantom limb? A. Not really. Phantom limbs occur because there is a stable, lifelong image of the limbs in the brain—the body-image. Q. A. Q. A. Q. A. Einstein & Faith. Myth by Beach House. "Myth" by Beach House [Lyrics]
