I'm a big fan of print/pattern/texture/print (repeat) and decided my closet would be the perfect space to bring that design aesthetic to life. And I must admit, I am a fabric hoarder that doesn't sew... so this project is truly the most satisfying project ever. I have tried to spruce it up many times, even going so far at to paint it Kelly green (yikes! That lasted less than 24 hours). I decided to go the opposite of bright. I went for a feeling of weathered, worn, dull and peaceful. I couldn’t believe how beautiful the ply wood looked when installed. The vanity that came with our house is a bit awkward. I liked the stenciling, but have always loved open shelving and the merchandising ability it gives me, even for my guest bathroom. Here is my merchandising/storage for now. Accessorizing with new mirror from Ikea, an old map print from Target, a leaf sculpture from Pier 1 and a magazine rack from Pottery Barn (all but the mirror were gathered from around my house). Then I painted a sample board. Ok. I ended up using six different colors of craft paint, but three of them were in a very similar color family just varying shades or finishes. I started with my Rain Gray and just blotted all over. And here is what it looked like after the first layer. Then I used my darker gray color. Um... After that step this is what I had. After all of that I used a very fine grit sand paper... Now... What got me thinking about this? It’s amazing how much more time we spend in the our family room now!

Let me tell you what I mean. And, guess what, it did. xoxo. D.I.Y Inspiration from ScrapHacker.com. 23 (Very) Beautiful French Kitchens.
