Highland Park Police Headquarters
In December of 2000, the city government of Highland Park was taken over by the state of Michigan due to mounting financial problems and internal corruption. The move effectively disbanded the local government, the departments of which were absorbed by the city of Detroit and state agencies. Just off of Woodward Avenue, hidden behind storefronts and apartments, is a cul-de-sac with the former headquarters of Highland Park's police, fire, and municipal divisions.
