Unlike the word processing programs (let’s just lump Excel and Powerpoint in here for argument’s sake too) you use to finalize reports, write memos and tally sales, real life doesn’t have an undo button. You might be able to ctrl+z your way into that promotion, but it won’t unsend an email or unsign important documents. The same thing goes for writing/drafting/note-taking/etc. when it comes to your tool of choice. If you know it’s going to be permanent and you’re never going to change it, write it in pen. If it might need modifying, use a pencil because it’s one of the few things that has an undo option.

If you’ve been known to practice some nude life drawing on the weekends (no, that’s actually not a euphemism for anything) but you’ve never made the transition to digital art, now is the time. Wacom—the company behind the only drawing tablets worth owning—has designed a pen that converts your ink drawings into vector or raster graphics. Using the same technology found in their tablets, the Wacom Inkling pen captures natural pen strokes with 1024 levels of sensitivity. So basically, unlike the hundred other digital pens you’ve seen before which are barely suitable for note taking, this one actually accounts for how hard you press down to create a varied line thickness.
