Why counting uniques is meaningless

The problem is that counting unique visitors is fraught with problems that are so fundamental, it renders the term ‘uniques’ meaningless. Firstly, cookies get lost, blocked and deleted. Research has shown that after a period of four weeks, nearly one third of tracking cookies are missing, which means the visitor will be incorrectly considered a new unique visitor should they return to the same website (see Accuracy Whitepaper for further reading). The longer the time period, the greater the chance of this happening, which makes comparing year-on-year data invalid for example. In addition, browsers make it very easy these days for cookies to be removed – see the new ‘incognito’ features of the latest Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer browsers.

Yes, It's Cold — and Yes, Global Warming Is Still Happening

Wrong. Here's why: What's most important to remember is that weather isn't climate. A single storm isn't evidence for or against global warming. "It is important to understand that weather is like one play in a football game. Despite the frigid cold gripping the country right now, over the past few decades, winter temperatures have gotten warmer, on average, according to records from the National Weather Service, which has tracked U.S. weather since the mid-1800s.

"On a given day, week or season, cold or wintry weather signifies nothing about the background climate changing," Marshall Shepherd, president of the American Meteorological Society, said in a blog post. How to Install Android in VirtualBox. Want to run Android on your PC?

Imagine a future where endless balls of plastic bags aren't jammed underneath the kitchen sink, where the idea of a "plastic bag holder" is as quaint as a CD rack, and where that famous scene in "American Beauty" prompts children to ask their parents about the bygone days of plastic bag pollution.

Hawaii County Set To Begin Plastic Bag Ban

For Hawaii, such a future is just around the corner. All four of the populated counties in Hawaii have passed legislation banning plastic bags at checkout counters, making it the first state in the country to pass such a ban. (There is a fifth county, Kalawao County, in Hawaii, but it is very remote and barely populated.) MIT developing sketchy vaccine for soldiers' PTSD. Fractured Wrist Chronicles: Two week anniversary and WOW! — a narrow escape

Not wanting to hurt the dear friend who was walking beside me, instead of correcting for the stumble, I “took the fall.” The experience has interrupted my usual routines, slowed me way down, and knocked me off balance. Lately, I’ve been pondering how this learning how to use the left hand as the “dominant” hand while nurturing the usually dominant right hand has offered me the challenge of mastering the same lesson that a child learns, but at a deeper level of complexity.

There is now a right/left learning going on within each arm. I am viewing “right/left” as a fractal, the division between right and left showing up (or being constructed) within each hand because of this injury to the right wrist.
