Arresteer Joseph Kony met respect voor mensenrechten
De arrestatie van Joseph Kony, de prominente leider van het Verzetsleger van de Heer (Lord Resistance Army, LRA), moet met respect voor de internationaal geldende mensenrechtenstandaarden worden uitgevoerd. Dat laat Amnesty International weten in een reactie op de massale aandacht voor de campagne 'Kony 2012'. Kony en drie andere leiders van het Verzetsleger van de Heer (LRA) hebben hun arrestatie sinds 2005 weten te voorkomen. Het Internationaal Strafhof beschuldigde hen in 2005 van misdaden tegen de menselijkheid, waaronder moord, gedwongen recrutering van kinderen onder de vijftien, seksslavernij en verkrachting. Amnesty International heeft de afgelopen jaren meerdere malen opgeroepen tot arrestatie van de LRA-leiders.

Hier in Amsterdam verzamelen de posterplakkers zich om 23.00 uur op het Museumplein om zich van daaruit over de stad te verspreiden. Als het goed is kunnen we hier morgenochtend dus nergens om de posters heen. Voor de paar mensen die geen idee hebben waar ik het over heb, en de You-Tube megahit van vorige maand hebben gemist, hieronder wat links. Het komt er in het heel (veel te) kort op neer dat door de Oegandese oorlogsmisdadiger Joseph Kony wereldberoemd te maken, hij wereldwijd bovenop de politieke agenda terecht komt, zodat hij voor het internationaal strafhof in Den Haag berecht kan worden.
