Madhuri the Indian elephant was getting bored with grazing the grassy plains of Corbett National Park, in India, until she spotted a monitor lizard. The luckless reptile was promptly plucked from obscurity and shown a swinging time. Madhuri wanted some fun and this game was to last several days. With tail firmly clamped in the animal’s trunk the lizard was swung around, put on the floor and then seated on her back…over and over again. These extraordinary shots were taken by Jagdeep Rajput, 49, from Delhi. He said: ‘She’s known to be quite aggressive so when I did eventually find her I approached carefully. ‘The park has a good population of lizards and Madhuri is known as an expert in catching them, she has a particular fancy for monitor lizards.
