Pearltrees Extension. 4 Ways to Figure Out What You Should Do for Work. It’s a universal dream to do what we’re passionate about. The only problem with this aspiration is that sometimes the thing we most care about isn’t what we do best. As Gloria Steinem famously said, “We teach what we need to learn, and write what we need to know.”

Don’t worry! This doesn’t mean your dream is dead. It just means that you need to figure out how to bring that dream to fruition—using the skills you currently possess. Sure, your dream will be tweaked and altered. Here are four questions you should ask yourself to help make that happen: 1. During your childhood and college years, you’ve no doubt developed certain skills out of necessity. In college, he put the paint and polish on his communication skills, placing in the top five in over a hundred debate tournaments, while earning a degree in communication and rhetoric. Now, many people aren’t as unfortunate as Edinger. 2. Consider also your go-to task when you feel overloaded. 3. Four decades later, Elliott holds 90 U.S. 4. Why 'Weird Facebook' is the Next Great Internet Subculture. Weird Facebook is a subculture of meme pages, secret groups, friend networks, and personalities Weird Facebook is a result of the failure of alternative Millenial institutions The scalability of Facebook allows for the creation of unprecedented “virtual realities” Weird Facebook is a mix of different social classes, motivations, aesthetics, interests, and belief systems By Rosemary Wilcox Facebook Is Uncool In a recent earnings call, Facebook CFO David Ebersman was pleased to announce that Facebook “remained close to fully penetrated among teens in the U.S.”

Ebersman was replying to an investor who was concerned that Facebook was becoming “uncool” and losing traction with younger users. Therefore, it’s surprising that many observers of the Internet are calling Facebook the next big thing for culture, art, and authentic alternative life. Why is all this weird art and meme stuff happening on Facebook? Facebook Was Once Exclusive The Internet Subculture Diaspora. The Complete Guide to Not Giving a Fuck. Ok, I have a confession to make. I have spent almost my whole life– 31 years–  caring far too much about offending people, worrying if I’m cool enough for them, or asking myself if they are judging me. I can’t take it anymore. It’s stupid, and it’s not good for my well being. It has made me a punching bag–  a flighty, nervous wuss. But worse than that, it has made me someone who doesn’t take a stand for anything.

It has made me someone who stood in the middle, far too often, and not where I cared to stand, for fear of alienating others. Today, ladies and gentlemen, is different. We’re going to talk about the cure. Do you wonder if someone is talking shit about you? Well, it’s time you started not giving a fuck. FACT NUMBER 1. Yes, it’s really happening right at this moment. What people truly respect is when you draw the line and say “you will go no further.” Right.

Regular people are fine– you don’t actually hear it when they’re talking behind your back. FACT NUMBER 2. FACT NUMBER 3. Strengths. Open Competitive Job Opportunities | State Job Opportunities. Q: How long does the process of therapy take? What does it involve? A: Psychotherapy can last for just a few sessions or for many years, depending on the type of therapy and the client's goals.

One of the shortest types of therapy is called solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT). In solution-focused therapy — which often lasts for just three or four sessions — the focus is entirely on finding solutions to the client's challenges. Very little time is spent analyzing problems or discussing past history. Instead, therapist and client focus on what works, and begin to build on that.

Another moderately short-term type of therapy is cognitive-behavioral therapy. On the other end of the scale, one of the longest forms of therapy is classical psychoanalysis. It is, of course, entirely up to the client to decide how long he or she wishes to work with a therapist. What Does Therapy Involve? What is required of the client in therapy?

Untitled. Lose your job? Here is how to find work you love immediately.

I believe that losing one job can often be the best thing that ever happens in your life. Do you? Let’s face it. Layoffs are all to common right now. It’s a rough economy. However, I think it’s easier to get back to work than people realize. All it takes is a different perspective on your job search. This fall, my life has really forced me to examine how I focus my attention and intention. However, since then, I haven’t had much trouble finding projects to work on that keep my belly full and my tank full. Since that Friday in October, I’ve gotten involved with several projects, all of which challenge me, and none of which require me to commute regularly. Aside: Volunteering will get you hired.

I’ve gotten to where I enjoy the challenge of only getting paid when I’m adding significant value to the company. It’s a scary proposition at first, because there isn’t a guarantee that I’m actually going to get paid. It’s not been a seamless process for me by any means. Thanks for reading. Today Can Be the Day You Turn Things Around. “In chaos, there is fertility.” ~Anais Nin How did I get to this point? This question pulsed through my brain repeatedly as I drove to my parents’ house in a state of complete exhaustion. My young daughter was strapped in the back seat, my pregnant belly pushing against the steering wheel, hot tears streaming down my face. I was done. I had nothing left to give. How did I get here? Gradually, then suddenly. With eternal gratitude to Hemingway, three simple words so elegantly summarize how I ended up in a situation I didn’t want or expect.

“How did you go bankrupt?” “Gradually, then suddenly.” ~Ernest Hemingway (The Sun Also Rises) It happened so gradually, almost imperceptibly. Looking back, I can see that I had willingly immersed myself in anxiety, perfectionism, comparisons, sleep-deprivation, a lack of mindfulness, poor health, and the idea that I deserved more from life. Gradually, these things took their toll. This gradual, then sudden decline is not reserved for dramatic breakdowns. 5 Ways to Love Your Life Without Making a Major Change. “Some people thrive on dramatic change. Some people prefer the slow and steady route. Do what’s right for you.” ~Julie Morgenstern Admit it. You feel like something’s missing from your life. You see people who have transformed their lives, given up their day jobs, and moved to exotic lands.

People who have created a new life and found whatever was missing from their previous humdrum existences. But you don’t hate your life. In fact, you’re just a fraction away from … contentment. But still. You can see there’s something to be said for adventure. But you wonder, how can you enhance and love the life you have rather than start a new one? Just Because You Can, Doesn’t Mean You Should A trend had popped up lately—which given I’m part of, I’m not knocking—for articles about location independence, digital nomads, travel, and freedom. The world has changed, and the possibilities for us all, particularly those of us lucky enough to be born in the Western world, seem almost endless. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Why Hard Work Might Not Pay Off (and What Will) “Man is only truly great when he acts from his passions.” ~Benjamin Disraeli At a young age I was told, “Without hard work nothing grows but weeds.”

I was also told, “With hard work it was possible to achieve the American Dream.” I was not sure what the American Dream was, but I did what everyone around me seemed to be doing. Working hard. I did well in school, helped my mother at home and my father at his place of business. The world looked incredible to me growing up, and I was so passionate about waking up every day and exploring.

Didn’t everyone see what an incredible world this was? There was a glimpse of this passion they once had in the boxes of photographs in our living room closet. In the photos, they were young and full of raw passion. My Dad’s photos were of him as a young twenty year old in full military uniform on a US Navy ship, somewhere far away, looking over the side rail in contemplative thought.

“When did they let that go?” Yet passion was nowhere to be found. Get Unstuck: How to Move Forward in Life — Alli Worthington. 3 Simple Steps to Doing What You Are Meant to Do Do you ever feel like what you are doing is nothing more than spinning your wheels in the mud? You’re putting forth a lot of effort, but you don’t seem to be moving forward.

In short, you’re stuck. Stuck like Chuck. Maybe you’re stuck in a boring job that makes you tons of money but doesn’t give you any joy. Maybe you’re stuck because you can’t make a decision about starting a new business, changing the focus of your current business, or doing something altogether different with your life than you have ever done before. If you have no idea how to STOP doing what you hate and START doing what you were meant to do; if that describes you, then chances are you are entering the “Editing” phase of life? What in the world am I talking about? So why do I call it the “Editing” phase? Ed-it /ˈedit/, verb- to correct, condense, or otherwise modify That’s what Webster has to say about editing.
