Instagram. TwinsPrez : Eight days and counting! How to: Twitter chat tutorial. Participating in Twitter chats can be a simple way to find other people with whom you share an interest or industry. It's also an especially great way to build your network and credibility online by showing your own expertise and passion around given topics. Twitter chats are simply a public conversation held on Twitter. They are open to anyone, held at designated times (generally as either a one-off about a certain topic, or at a standing day and time for specific industries or interests such as #TravelTuesday), and are entirely threaded together by a common hashtag (word following a "#" sign) predetermined by the chat organizers.

To participate in a Twitter chat, first find a chat of interest. Brands and organizations will almost always announce upcoming chats on their Twitter accounts in the days prior so the simplest way to find a chat is to follow accounts on Twitter that are in line with your interests and values. Is making good on its promise to push into scripted programming, with a slate featuring projects from John Wells, Kevin Spacey and Salt’s Phillip Noyce. The slate, which will be announced as part of the NBCUniversal-owned cable network’s upfront event Monday evening, includes nine hourlong projects in development. Although they range from the expected (a series about Hollywood assistants) to the unexpected (a show about the Vanderbilt dynasty set in the 1890s), there is an aspirational component to each of them.

At least one, and potentially two, of these projects will air on E! In 2013. PHOTOS: Broadcast TV's Returning Shows for 2012-13 Season The network, which NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment chairwoman Bonnie Hammer assumed control of following the Comcast acquisition, has been undergoing a rebrand for the better part of a year. Here’s a look at the E! The 400: The rise of the Vanderbilt dynasty is chronicled in this stylized drama set in New York society of the 1890s. Every Major League Baseball Team Is Using Pinterest (Google+ and Tumblr, Too) Despite its reputation as a female-dominated social network — or perhaps because of that?

— every team in Major League Baseball is now actively using Pinterest. All 30 MLB teams also have official pages on Google+ and officials blogs on Tumblr. And the league itself also has an official presence on all three social networks. The league and all of its teams have already been active on Facebook and Twitter for some time now, but only recently expanded its collective social media footprint to Pinterest, Google+ and Tumblr. The league has created a “social media clubhouse” at MLB.com/connect, with links and information about each of the league’s social network accounts. There’s no team directory that I can find, but every official team website advertises the full range of social media accounts near the bottom of the page — like this example from the Philadelphia Phillies website. The Pinterest presence is the most intriguing one to me because of the reportedly heavy female demographic there. How Oprah is Revolutionizing Social TV in Real-Time. Oprah may have retired from her daytime talk show nearly a year ago, but she's hardly out of sight from her fan base.

In fact, her latest series airing on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network is perhaps one of the most advanced shows in the social space right now, as she connects with her home and live audience in almost unprecedented ways. Oprah's Lifeclass — which is currently in its second season, airing on Monday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT — features various motivational speakers and guests who aim to help viewers overcome challenges. Last season recapped lessons, revelations and aha moments over the past 25 years on The Oprah Winfrey Show. But this isn't your typical Oprah show. "We have a team backstage that monitors the tweets that come in, and we push out some for Oprah to see and discuss live on the show," a spokesperson for the OWN Network told Mashable backstage at a live taping. Oprah's Lifeclass also incorporates Facebook polls into the show and offers real-time results. Future of Entertainment: Viewer Becomes User. Michael is Vice President, Mobile for MTV.

Chris Goodney/Bloomberg NewsThe Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim Helú is financing Ora.tv on the Internet.

Mathieu Young/CNNLarry King, a co-founder of Ora.tv, said his new show would resemble “Larry King Live” and that his wife would be involved. Carlos Slim Helú, the Mexican billionaire, is financing an Internet television network called Ora.tv that will feature Larry King, the former CNN interviewer, in a return to the interviewer’s chair.

The network, to be announced on Monday, is the latest indication of Mr. Slim’s interests in Internet broadcasting and in televisionlike content. It will have a slate of shows of varying lengths and will stream them via the Internet to computers, phones and television sets in the United States, Latin America and elsewhere, bypassing traditional television distribution systems. “There’s an opportunity to build a great brand here over the next few years,” said Jon Housman, whom Mr. Slim recruited to be the network’s chief executive. Quickly shooting up the social media pyramid, image sharing network Pinterest has gained a reputation for largely being a repository for photos of wedding dresses and floral arrangements, due to its huge female user base.

But a budding trend shows that sports teams are hopping aboard the Pinterest bandwagon. Mashable spoke with marketing and engagement managers who say the network offers new ways to connect with and reward fans and provide different social opportunities. And they insist that Pinterest is not just a flash in the sports marketing pan. "With all the indicators in terms of buzz, I have a hard time believing it won't establish itself as a major player," says Peter Stringer, the Boston Celtics' director of interactive media.

Like most teams, the Celtics are very new to Pinterest, joining just in the past few weeks. "We're looking at it as if it's predominantly for women, but we're not treating it as if it's only for women. " Expect Pinterest's influence to continue growing. Sean 'Diddy' Combs Announces a Social Media-Driven Music TV Channel. Sean "Diddy" Combs took to YouTube, Twitter and Facebook this week to announce the launch of REVOLT TV — a new socially connected music and news-driven cable channel coming to the Comcast-NBC network in 2013. Combs, the founder and CEO of Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment Group and hip-hop artist, says he wants to connect music makers to music lovers. It's fitting that the TV network using social networks to reach viewers would turn to YouTube to broadcast initial plans.

The television channel will deliver music videos, live performances and music news. Social media will drive audience interaction with the network and featured artists. “REVOLT is the first channel created entirely from the ground up in this new era of social media” Combs said in a statement. “We’re building this platform for artists to reach an extraordinary number of people in a completely different way. This coming Sunday, I will be a guest on Twitter #blogchat, founded and facilitated by Mack Collier. Mack tells me that one of the biggest topic requests from #blogchat participants is how to post more often.

He thought participants would really enjoy if I walked them through how I do it. It's not a black and white kind of question -- at least not like the new gmail look. As part of that (especially the research part) we'll talk about how you can use your blog to help establish your expertise in your area. I thought you'd like to have a short post to frame the context that you can share with chat participants who don't read Conversation Agent (yes, there are plenty) and talk about my high level process. That way we can spend more time with your questions during the chat.

My philosophy on content First off, my philosophy on online content is that your own sites are your home base. Like me, you probably have some questions that keep coming up about your work, or your expertise. Minnesotans help popularize scheduled chat events on Twitter. An employment-related chat co-moderated by Kate-Madonna Hindes of Chaska has become the Internet equivalent of traditional face-to-face professional networking. (Pioneer Press: Scott Takushi) It's a party! A Twitter party, that is. The popular social network has long been a good place for serendipitous encounters that lead to friendships online and off.

Now some are formalizing this trend by creating scheduled events called "Twitter chats," where users gather to socialize or for professional networking. One example is #tweetnmeet, created by Erica Mayer of New Hope. During these events, dozens or even hundreds of people converge on Twitter to introduce themselves and meet others. Twitter chats are legion, with a dizzying range of themes and topics. Participants find each other during these events by all inserting a codeword or "hashtag" into all tweets. One such hashtag is #tweetnmeet. Kate-Madonna Hindes of Chaska co-moderates #jobhuntchat, an employment-related Twitter chat event. Live. We've reached a point as a society where meeting online is meeting the old-fashioned way. But if you've ever dipped a toe in the online dating pool, you know that just like the human matchmakers (cough: MOMS) who came before them, online dating sites have a pretty touch and go success rate, and an utterly mystifying system of how they determine a suitable date for you.

Oh, you're interested in fitness and read a lot of books? Then you'll love this guy who writes Buffy: The Vampire Slayer fan fiction and lives with ten other guys in what could loosely be described as an apartment! After a series of online dating strikeouts, Amy Webb took her data and her dating life into her own hands. The result: a happy marriage and a successful book about her online dating endeavor, Data: A Love Story. If you like love, the internet, data and books, you're going to have an awesome time at this event. If you don't like these things, WHO ARE YOU?!

Minnesota Vikings fans Dan Dunleavy, Courtney Dunleavy and Brian Polkowski watch a Vikings game over lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings in Eagan. (Pioneer Press: Sherri LaRose-Chiglo) It's game day at Buffalo Wild Wings. But then, every day is game day at the wings-and-beer chain. On Sundays, pro football packs 'em in. On Saturdays, there's college football on a multitude of TV screens.

And on weekdays, you may catch a college basketball game on television - but you're just as likely to find a Peewee hockey squad at the next table. "We're kind of a family sports bar, in a way, where it's OK to take your kids," said CEO Sally Smith, 53. Wall Street loves it, too. While the recession has chilled expansion for most of the restaurant industry, Buffalo Wild Wings has blazed ahead. One factor in its success seems to be the chain's dual appeal: providing a place for hard-core fans who love wings, beer, TV and sports - while also appealing to customers who want more than a man cave.

Screen, For Original and Syndicated Programming. October 10, 2011 Yahoo Adopts a Broadcast-TV Sensibility By Announcing Its New Fall Programming In the Same Way As a TV Network Would: Web Giant Announces New Video Site, Yahoo! Screen, For Original and Syndicated Programming With TV-network style, Yahoo is launching a fall slate of shows in a bid to strengthen its original programming. This week, the Web giant announced that it will begin premiering seven new Web series, all targeting female audiences — adding to the approximately two dozen original series on Yahoo, which often pull in much higher viewership than other, higher-profile video hubs.

The new shows generally take an unscripted, lifestyle programming strategy. Yahoo is also planning further additions, with series focusing on other demographics and genres. Yahoo's success in original programming is partly due to the traffic it can generate from its homepage. "We're not just video, we're video plus," said McPherson.
