You can't have a vintage themed party without some old fashioned carnival games! Read on to learn some easy ways to put a carnival in your back yard! The kids had a BLAST at our carnival. I was kind of surprised that they enjoyed it as much as they did, because it was so hot outside, but thrilled that they had so much fun.

I purchased colorful plastic tablecloths from the Dollar Tree and clipped them onto a rope. It was breezy so I had to weigh the ends down with rocks. My son had made signs for the games, so we taped those onto the plastic and set small tables up. I had purchased a pack of carnival tickets at the Dollar Tree, so I gave a stack to each adult volunteer and the fun began! This was the most popular game: Water Blast! We nailed a piece of recycled packing foam to wood, inserted several golf tees, and balanced a golf ball on top. The spinning wheel was very popular, too. The ring toss was fun, especially for the little ones.

Did someone say party?: Summer Tree. In the Year of the Tree there has been the Valentine Tree, the Mardi Gras Tree, the St. Patty's Tree and, finally, the Easter Tree. Now - I'd like to introduce you to the Summer Tree.

Okay - so I'll apologize first for not actually having a picture of the decorated tree. We are in the middle of moving and the tree is in an unknown box, the likes of which will not be discovered until we arrive at our destination in our new home town. I can't wait to unpack it and get these ornaments displayed. This tree will be a constant for my little guy in the midst of much change. Using the same two sizes as the wreaths for the flower punch, I cut out different sizes in four bright and cheerful summer colors. Then I pinned them on, just as we did with the wreaths. You can pin a loop of ribbon for hanging as ornaments or just place them between branches to sit nicely. Send us pictures if you decide to make some for yourself!
