A Jean Paul Gaultier Ready-to-Wear Retrospective. Posted on September 23, 2014Posted by Meghan Earlier this week, much to the surprise of the fashion world, Jean Paul Gaultier announced that he will be withdrawing from ready-to-wear fashion following his final show next week in Paris.

A Jean Paul Gaultier Ready-to-Wear Retrospective

In his short statement, Gaultier explained that after 38 years in prêt-à-porter, he felt the time was appropriate to focus exclusively on the brand’s haute couture and fragrance ventures. We’re at a moment in fashion where the demands on designers to produce a minimum of four collections a year is a serious hinderance to the creative process. Consumer demand for more product on a near immediate time scale leaves little time for thoughtful and quality clothing to be made. Gaultier’s decision to discontinue his ready-to-wear line is a significant move from a major designer to put an end to the fashion rat race madness––a commendable one at that. My Fanciful Muse: Rococo Style Room and 18th Century French Fashions.

I've created another fun digital scene using a variety of late 18th Century French Fashion Plates from the time of Marie Antoinette in a Rococo style room.

My Fanciful Muse: Rococo Style Room and 18th Century French Fashions

This time I've incorporated two of my "framed scenes" with a great blue room background and a nice variety of fashion figures from previous posts to finish off the piece. I've created an assortment of these characters in various color combinations to use in my digital art. I have included those along with the background room and frame for you crafting pleasure. Enjoy! The Background The base for the background "Blue Room" comes from a vintage paper theater backdrop from the 1880's which I digitized and extensively reworked to create the background for my final scene.

I used Photoshop to take the original and very "flat" looking image and turning it into this lovely room you see above. Fashion Through a Historical and Cultural Lens. Tesauro.
