The image above of the yellow office and pink desk has long been a favorite of mine but I never knew who designed it. Turns out it belongs to Richmond, Virgina interior designer Jenny Andrews of Andrews Designs, whose portfolio I just discovered. Her gorgeous home, the first nine photos above, were featured in Cottage Style as well as a slew of other publications and I'm in love with it!

I had to include more from her portfolio as well, but check out her site here to see even more of her fresh and colorful work! Edit: The beautiful painting in the first two photos is by Virginia artist Duane Cregger. I love the story of how she came to be engaged with children’s play: “It all happened quite by accident. Two children had entered the gallery where she was exhibiting ‘Multiple Hammock No. 1’ and, blissfully unaware of the usual polite protocols that govern the display of fine art, asked to use it. She watched nervously as they climbed into the structure, but then was thrilled to find that the work suddenly came alive in ways she had never really anticipated.

She noticed that the fabric took on new life – swinging and stretching with the weight of the small bodies, forming pouches and other unexpected transformations, and above all there were the sounds of the undisguised delight of children exploring a new play space.” Todos. Furniture Makeover: Mixing Up DIY Chalk Paint Recipes & Colors - In My Own Style

I have written about many pieces of furniture I have painted using one of three DIY chalk paint recipes – non-sanded grout, Plaster of Paris, and Calcium Carbonate Powder. Many of you have asked me what is the most durable recipe? Last week, I combined two of my favorite recipes – Plaster of Paris and Calcium Carbonate Powder in one mix to use on the corner cabinet in my dining room to see if by mixing the two, the finish would be even better – more durable than when either ingredient was used alone. I liked it –A LOT! It dried to a very durable finish right away – no wood tannins bled through and the mixture was super smooth. Diseño de interiores Ideas.
