HOWTO: Capture streaming audio for later Purely for the sake of the demonstration, I will use the BBC’s production of the new Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series as an example for this guide. This is available at the BBC’s web site as streaming audio, but I’d like to be able to listen to it on my iPod. Two problems: the iPod doesn’t play RealAudio, and it can’t play streams over the internet. I need to find a way to download the file and convert it to a format I can use. Here’s how to do it (under linux or maybe OS X):
