This matter points to my BIG concern: As publishers and others adapt Singapore’s Math for the American market, new approaches creep in. So my plea to NCTQ: please use examples from an actual Singapore mathematics text when citing the components that make it so successful.

Two sets comprise one year of study. Students who switch to Primary Mathematics from another curriculum may not have the necessary background to begin at the level corresponding with their grade level without review from earlier levels. We suggest that you use these placement tests to decide where to place students new to Primary Mathematics, or to get an idea of which concepts may have to be reviewed from an earlier level. These placement tests and answer keys may be printed out and used by individuals at no cost. They may not be copied or incorporated into any other document.
Here is a guideline for interpreting placement test results: These tests cover the material for the level indicated on the tests.
