Eyeliner Week: Tightlining & Painted Ladies

Although the two techniques are often confused, there is definitely a big difference between lining your waterline and tightlining. With tightlining, what you are doing is targeting the area between your lashes in order to enhance your lashes and make them look more lush. It’s a very targeted technique as opposed to lining your waterline, which is covering the entire area with liner. You can use a pencil or powder for tightlining, but I prefer to use a gel liner. Ready? What you are doing with tightlining is pushing the liner right in between your lashes. Here’s a little diagram to help you visualize the technique. Don’t ever claim that I’m not dedicated with these photos. I don’t usually tightline the bottom lashes — it’s a matter of personal preference. Happy Friday ladies!

Fun Summer Hair in Minutes.

I just love this time of year- summer is just around the corner! Naturally, as weather changes so does my hairstyle. However, I am feeling like I need something new. My usual summer top knot, braids, or loose pony tail is just getting a bit…well, boring. So, this week while I was in the shower (the place where I have most of my revelations) I came up with a fast and easy hair style that can be dressed up for a weekend date-night or dressed down for a day at the beach. I also chose to wear a vintage inspired blue shirt with red tiny polk-a-dots that I thought would look great with this hair style. Let me know what you think about this hair creation! Did you catch that? So how about a short little video tutorial on how to achieve this look.

YOU ASKED FOR IT…

I recently recreated that braid and took a couple photos so you could see it up close. Here’s the very simple secret to this braid: In a regular braid there are 3 strands. For this look, all you do is braid one of those strands beforehand and loosen it up with your fingers, then braid as usual. Watch this video to see how it looks as the pieces loosen up and naturally fall out of the braid: Tags: braid, braid in a braid, braids, chelsea lately, hair, hair style, kristin ess, lauren conrad, lauren conrad braid, lauren conrad plait, layers, messy braid, messy plait, plait, style, textured braid, the beauty department, thebeautydepartment.com, video Related posts:
