Fresh off the plane, I’m on the road with the Travelling Geeks , and the first startup on our schedule is an innovative Paris-based social bookmarking operation, Pearl Trees . Their founder and CEO, Patrice Lamothe, says the site offers users a new way to “curate” or organise their lives on the web. They’ve secured about US$3,5m in funding for what is essentially a type of visual social bookmarking site, offering a relatively unique drag-and-drop interface.

PearlTrees (litéralement “arbres de perles” en français) est un service web que j’ai pu découvrir quelques jours avant LeWeb 2009. En effet, différents “arbre de perles” (PearlTrees) ont été créés à l’occasion de cet événement pour montrer l’intérêt d’ organiser le web sous forme d’arborescences permettant ainsi de lier des sites ou des pages ou des personnes par différents liens thématiques . Pendant la première journée de LeWeb, j’ai pu avoir une démonstration puis discuter de ce service atypique et dont l’intérêt n’est pas forcément facile à qualifier mais que je vous propose de découvrir.
