Parapsychology. American psychologist and philosopher William James (1842–1910) was an early psychical researcher. Parapsychology is a field of study concerned with the investigation of paranormal and psychic phenomena. Parapsychologists study telepathy, precognition, clairvoyance, psychokinesis, near-death experiences, reincarnation, apparitional experiences, and other paranormal claims. Parapsychology research is largely conducted by private institutions in several different countries and funded through private donations,[1][2][3][4] and the subject rarely appears in mainstream science journals. Most papers about parapsychology are published in a small number of niche journals.[5] Most scientists regard parapsychology as pseudoscience.[6] Parapsychology has been criticised for continuing investigation despite being unable to provide convincing evidence for the existence of any psychic phenomena after more than a century of research.[7][8][9][10][11][12] Terminology[edit] History[edit] Rhine era[edit]

PK experiments have historically been criticized for lack of proper controls and repeatability.[13][15][16][17] Furthermore, some experiments have created illusions of PK where none exists, and these illusions depend to an extent on the subject's prior belief in PK.[18][19] Etymology[edit] The word psychokinesis, a portmanteau of the Greek language words ψυχή ("psyche"), meaning mind, soul, spirit, or breath; and κίνησις ("kinesis"), meaning motion, movement,[1][2] was coined in 1914 by American author Henry Holt in his book On the Cosmic Relations.[20][21][22] The term was later adopted by American parapsychologist J.

The history of technology is populated with a marvellous cast of characters. On the one hand you have the colourful, hard-working inventors like Thomas Edison who slaved away morning, noon and night to produce many of the wonders that we take for granted such as the incandescent light, the telephone, and the garlic peeler. On the other you have the moonbat crazies who show up at the patent office with a cardboard box stuffed with wires and a torch battery claiming that they've made contact with John Kerry's charisma.

And then there is that rarest of creatures: Nikola Tesla, a man who was both a certifiable genius and just plain certifiable. Born in Smiljan, Croatia, Tesla was educated at Graz and Prague, worked for the Continental Edison Company in Paris, and emigrated to the United States in 1884. There he worked briefly for Thomas Edison until the poetic Tesla and the pragmatic Edison fell out. The Jersey Devil. Could it be, however, that conventional science is just as mistaken as the Bible stories? There is a great deal of archeological evidence that the history of life on earth might be far different than what current geological and anthropological texts tell us.

Paul and Dan had written a script for a horror film called Eve's Demons, and were looking for a church to film one of the scenes. They were with a couple of girls cast in the film, Sarah and Aisha. Paul noticed a particular location, St Mary's Church, and suggested they go and check it out and see if it was a suitable location.

Everyone agreed and headed on over. As they walked along the path, they chatted to each other about what they planned to do with the film when it was completed. Dan turned to the others and said, "What's that? " However, Paul just stood there feeling nothing but total bewilderment. But they didn't. Paul wondered if the presence, or whatever it was, that occupied the churchyard three hours before would still be there. The guys stopped by the church gate again and parked the car.
